I have a brandnew S5 EV. I need to charge the vehicle from 65% to 100% flor a long drive. The vehicle will not charge . I have tried several chargers. The vehicle starts charging for a few seconds and then stops. Any advise suggestions ?

Thank you.

It may be the car has been set to limit its max charge (to 65%) - in the main screen after you power on, swipe left and select the battery/charging - you can click the percentage bar and set the maximum limit e.g. to 100%. The iSmart app also lets you set it - drag down on the main app screen, select charging, select the "options" in the top right and you'll see the limit option.

Good point @Loada.
@CasPol, You haven't said what sort of charging you're trying to perform. I would assume at home so an AC charge either from a granny charger, around 2kW, or a dedicated Home EVSE charging up to 7kW.
With the MG4 you have to lock the car once you have connected to a AC charger, with either of the two above, otherwise it wont go into the charge mode.

I am using a 7Kw home charger. The percentage bar in the battery cannot be adjusted nothing happens when I tap or try to slide it. It is the same in the app, I cannot change the percentage bar ..

Does it say "charge limit: xxx%" under the car image?

Actually to be sure, you should go try a different charger, even a 7kw public one to see if that works ok.

Which MGS5 have you got? Only the LR versions can change the % of charge.

If yours has the LR battery open the app, scroll down and tap EV Management, tap the nut shaped icon at the top right, tap the downward arrow for Target Battery Level then scroll and Confirm

Have you tried it on a rapid DC charger?

Thanks everyone for the advise. I , eventually, discovered that the car was setup for scheduled charging . Turning scheduled charging off solved the charging problem.

I have the LR battery version There is no way to change the percentage bar in the battery screen cannot be adjusted nothing happens when I tap or try to slide it. It is the same in the app, I cannot change the percentage bar, and there is no target battery level option in the APP.

This is how my MG 4 LR (64kWh) looks for the infotainment screen with the slider to adjust target percentage.

And for the iSmart app on the main page

And then the ev management page

I notice someone has posted the displays for the MG S5. They don't differ much from the MG4.
If there's no slider etc then have you actually got a SR 51kWh LFP battery which has no setting other than 100% whereas the LR 64kWh NMC has a health mode up to 80% and a long journey mode to 100%
