Comfort 2 update cost

Hi all. Has anyone had the Comfort 2 update for the Mk1 applied by their dealer? If so how much did they charge? My dealer (Bristol St Chesterfield) had promised it free of charge, but now the car is with them they are asking for £460 to apply the update. They say that price was given to them today by MG.

I would call a few other dealers around where you live and ask them to quote. £460 seems steep to the point that I would probably not bother if the car is fine ...

£460 is a scam!
When I put my Mk 1 in for an update, it was going to cost £60 (London) but they messed it up and had to keep the car for a day - as compensation, it was done for free.
Always mention that you’ll take your servicing elsewhere if they mess you about and worth emailing MG to see what they say…

After a long chat with the service manager it seems MG charge dealers £260 to download any software update and they can then claim the cost back from MG if it is covered by warranty. Comfort 2 isn't covered by warranty and so £460 includes the extensive labour of plugging the car in and leaving it connected to their only laptop for 7 hours! Another local dealer will do it for £102 and says it takes 90 minutes. Seems pretty inconsistent across dealers to me.

As a rule of thumb, what they charge is inversely proportional to their competence.

£460 is now zero cost as I complained they were too expensive. It’s taken 2 days so far because they are waiting for MG technical to work out why the infotainment unit won’t take the update.
