It does sound a bit hypocritical, but it's an apple and orange thing, buying an EV, (if you can afford it, is no hardship, but missing out on a bucket list holiday is something else.
You do what you can.
And as already said, if you think you can save the planet, you have serious mental problems. Maybe make it a little less unpleasant for coming generations, is all you can hope for.
