Faults after jump starting MG ZS EV

Hello fellow MG ZS EV owners.

I just want to share what happened to this day. I had my car tinted and when I came back, the installer of the tint said he has a problem with my car. When I came inside, there is a ticking noise in the 12v battery and the car won't start, won't open doors or anything. Just dead... So we decided to jumpstart the car. It turned on but apparently, all faults came out.

-limited power, limiting speed
-vacuum system fault
-emergency breaking fault
-auto hold fault
-lane assist fault
And the list goes on and on. I think it's everything.

I rang MG AA and the mechanic did not manage to sort it. He said I need to send it back to the dealer.

I have an MG ZS EV Trophy Connect Long Range, used. It was registered last 7th October according to its records. I received it just last week, Thursday.

It's just frustrating as we have plans over the weekends.

Is it really that quick to drain the 12v battery? I just left my car to the tinting shop for less than 5 hours. Anyone who had a problem like mine? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Did the tint shop have the doors open without the car switched on? If so, that would do it. Check the warranty on the 12 volt battery (usually 2 years), it might charge up but is now probably faulty.

I believe so... I am new to ev and I did not know as well that the car should be on ready mode... ?

It is the Achilles heel of EV's. When your car goes in for a service or any work, the first thing the techs do is connect a 12 volt booster to prevent draining the battery.

Yes but the faults won't go away... Any idea if this will resolve on its own? If not, any idea how dealers solve this problem?

I would say if you can get into ready mode and leave it in ready for a good 20mins to charge the 12v battery or plug into your home charger that will also charge the 12v most the warnings are 12v related after a good charge try again if the same disconnect battery 10mins then try after reconnected

Dealers plug in a diagnostic computer into the OBD port and clear the errors. Disconnecting the 12 volt for 10 mins has the same effect, then charge it fully with either a battery charger or switching the car on and letting it charge from the traction battery.

Do you have any idea how long does it take? My wife is pregnant on our supposed to be third child but she already had 2 miscarriages. ?

If you can get your hands on a 10mm spanner you got nothing to lose remove the negative cable from the 12v battery(with car switch off) for at least 5mins press horn a few times leave 5 more minutes before you reconnect if this does not work the codes will have to be deleted with odb equipment only takes a few minutes but really depends on how busy the dealer is

As I opened the bonnet, I saw this on the edge, just lying around. Do you know if this is part of the unit? Hopefully not.

And you can too. I think that the Car Scanner app with an appropriate (not the cheapest and nastiest) OBD II Bluetooth dongle can do it. If you don't already have a dongle, you might be able to pick up one from a car parts or electronics shop (eg. Supercheap Auto, Repco, or Jaycar in Australia), otherwise you'll need to order one online.

It may, but some faults will be written to non-volatile memory, in which case disconnecting the 12 V battery won't help. With such a number and variety of faults, I think you'll need the codes cleared.

Hello fellow owners. Just an update... I have disconnected and reconnected the 12v battery after 10 mins then charge the unit (7kw) overnight. I checked it this morning... Still the same. I guess I am just going to send the car to dealer. Do I have to pay or is still included in the warranty?

Can you phone the AA again and tell them you cannot drive the car. They should send someone out who can clear the error messages. If that doesnt work they can take the car to the nearest garage where loan car can be provided?
