Full Size Spare Wheel

Does anyone have a clue where I could buy an MG4 Trophy wheel from, dealer says no ? Can't find a matching wheel pattern anywhere. I really don't want to have to buy a set of five. I WANT a spare wheel, not some useless gunk and a stupid little compressor!

Most tyre fitters won't even try to repair a tyre that's been polluted with this gunk. In theory they can do it but it takes too long to clean it out. If you use it, you can expect to have to buy a new tyre.

And that, my friend, is why I want a 'proper' spare wheel.

I’m not interested in repair kits, tyre weld or any other ‘fix’, I just want a spare wheel, so, bearing that in mind, does ANYONE know where I can buy the correct pattern alloy wheel from please? Sometimes the ‘old ways’ are actually the best rather than some cheap and nasty repair system that allegedly saves weight and gets you an extra 3 miles per charge. I don’t care about the extra 3 miles, I want to be able to get home after a puncture by changing the damned wheel. For me, with the extra charges for recovery from one of the providers, I can buy an awful lot of spare wheels. So, anyone know?

I am looking for a spare wheel set for ZS and some MG dealers have them for almost £300 which is crazy. You can buy a space saver to fit your car for about £130 online, Google it and a few suppliers pop up ...
one seller on eBay sells what they say are original MG spares but too expensive .. the other option is car breaker yards - but, looking at £200 for 1 alloy wheel ...

If a space saver wheel and tyre will satisfy your needs as an alternative to using any of the “Gunk” products for your MG4 Trophy, then take a look at this video from Tom.
He also has a MG4 and hates the use of “Gunk” etc.
He used the space saver from his old ZS EV Gen1 which has the same wheel pitch.
He covers all of this in his video.

Thanks for that but again, I would like nothing other than a proper wheel, not gunk, not space saver, proper alloy wheel. When I last spoke to my dealer, he said he could not get a spare alloy, I will go there again.

I agree that a full sized spare is the idea option, but not many manufacturers use them any more unfortunately.
There is no provision made in the boot space to carry one.
The ZS EV has a wheel well in the boot, because the original ICE version was designed with the pressing in the boot floor.
You can be 100% sure the mid on the new platform will not have it !.
It goes without saying, that if you use a full size spare, then any chance of disguising its presence will be impossible of course and the boot space will be compromised.
But you already considered this I know.
What about speaking to one of the large companies that supply alloy wheels and tyres ?.
One they establish the hole pitch ( which we already know is the same as the VW cars and the inset of the rim etc, then could supply you with a suitable alloy and tyre.
Our you maybe be able to source an alloy from another vehicle?.
It will not match the original MG alloy, but it’s only a spare after all ?.

for a full size alloy wheel, car breakers on eBay might be the best option. Expensive because there aren't that many scrapped yet ...

It seams crazy to me that the MG dealer is unable to find a part number / price for a single rim ????.
If somebody was to badly damage a single rim, either by driver error, or it had been hit hard in the case of an accident, then the repair shop would have to fit an original MG replacement item surely to the car ??‍.
Bizarre that the dealership is unable to locate a part number, don’t you think ?.

Why not just get the same size wheel but of any 'design'? Surely it doesn't matter the design if it's just for a spare which will be used just in case of emergency?

some people do that, they often buy cheep full size steel wheel + tyre set online or alloys that start from about £100 + another £50-ish for a cheaper tyre

The dealer must be able to do this.
I bought an OEM rim for my MG5 from a dealer and it only cost £65 IIRC.

I am still mad that I let Copart take my old Golf, space-saver wheel and all, without realising it would fit the MG4.

When I picked up my MG4 the rep told me they don't provide a spare because of the extra weight of the car because of the batteries. Apparently standard alloy wheels aren't strong enough to cope with the weight and instant torque from electric cars.
Might be a load of nonsense though!

I think you'll find that the wheels on the MG4 are pretty standard alloys.
