I've owned my MG ZS EV since October 2023.
I've had no problems charging it at home on my granny charger or at at commercial charging stations.
Last week I charged as usual. Drove to work a few days then noticed on Wednesday morning after plugging in to my granny charger the night before that my car had not charged overnight.
Since then I've tried charging at home and on a commercial fast charger today. It's just not charging.
The blue light connects, then I hear the connection noise at the car, the green light flashes, the granny charger has all the lights on. I watch through the MG app that has a flowing motion to indicate it's charging, but it's just not?
I can't get in to the service centre for 3 weeks.
I unplugged the 12V battery today after reading a thread and that didn't work.
Any ideas?

I don't know about the generation 2 version of the ZS EV but the Gen 1 vehicle shows a message on the dash that tells you that the car is charging.
If possible try a different charger.
Maybe turn the phone app off too, and let the car charge without using the app.
The Gen 1 car does not connect to an app, so I can't comment on that but as others have pointed out there is a charge level that can be set on the app. If that is set too low the car will not accept a charge.
Good luck

Thanks. I don't use the app to charge. I plug it in and it usually charges. But not at the moment. I tried a fast charger and nothing happened again. The Green light flashes, the car shows the flow into the car but it doesn't charge

Although you don't use the app to charge, I would certainly still check it as it could have a scheduled charging time set (inadvertently). You can also check this in the Infotainment screen - in my 23/24 ZS Lux LR that is via Charging/Charging Settings.

Thanks. There is no scheduled charge. I tried to use that and still it did nothing. I have changed nothing and it just stopped working. It shows that it is charging, but it's not.

Thanks for this thread. I am having the same issue. Had my EV since Jan '24, low mileage. No problems charging till recently. It stops charging at an arbitrary level, 21%, 52%, 35%. Thought it must be user error but it isn't. Now it wont charge at all. The Zappi tells me that the car is 99% full when now it is only 3%. Can't go anywhere to test out commercial charger!

That sounds like a plug and socket problem, it may be worth cleaning the socket on the car, use some contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol to clean the socket and pins.
You may be losing the control pilot signal due to faulty connections, in that case the car would stop charging
good luck
Pete

Thanks for these suggestion, much appreciated. I have reverted to the granny charger and it is now charging. Still a mystery. Next, off to a friend to try out the Zappi there.
Test by substitution is always the best starting point when it could be one of two things producing a fault.

My wife's ZS EV is starting to experience the same issue. On a 5 hour overnight charge it went from 54% to 80% charged (+26%)- my MG4 over exactly the same period went from 44% to 98% (+54%).

Thanks for sharing. I am using the granny charger but it only seems to work intermitently so I am reluctantly concluding there is a fault with the car. My dealer can only take it in October!

Seems to be miscommunication between the car and the charger? Could well be the problem with the charger? Try a different one from a neighbour or make it to a fast charger somewhere nearby, see what happens. If you are in Amlwch, there is an Evolt charging station close to the library.

What does that mean, how? Works and then stops and then continues or just stops at certain % ? Do you have a long range or standard range model?

as for the dealer, call another one, October is nonsense. maybe worth travelling a bit further if they could fix it in one day or give you a courtesy car for a few days?

Thanks, we are a long way from dealers here in Anglesey, North Wales. Penalty for early adopters. I am stumbling along with the granny charger, forgot you have to press Start in the car each time but I am getting the hang of it and can probably wait till October - no long journeys planned but in the meantime I will find out how it goes on a commercial charger. Thanks everyone - nice forum.
