I'd stick with that for now as Go in Lancs is 30p and 7.5p for 4 hrs.I'm on a fixed tariff until Oct 23 at 22p a kW so I don't want to lose that, I'm not sure what the 'go' tariff is, I don't have gas.

Same here, but I am now on Go faster, which is another Beta project, 8.25 0130 - 0630Same here
It applies to the whole property.... So set your timer for the washing machine etc and enjoy the savings.I have emailed Octopus but this is bugging me. The Octopus Go tariff of 7.5p for a 4 hour session. Is that tied to the EV Charger? So not able to use for the dishwasher or washing machine at 7.5p in that time frame ?
When I switched to GO the clause about EVs didn't exist. As I have solar and a house battery I used, and still do, if needed charge my house battery on the go tariff. Just recently I got an upgrade to the battery which doubled its capacity so for the last two sunny months I managed to shift 90% of my usage to the off peak rate. This includes car charging. Thanks for clearing the fog! I have the MG HS PHEV as about 95% of my driving is local with the occasional holiday run. I only charge up about 2 or 3 times a week sometimes 1 or 2. I have initiated a change to Octopus Go and then found this seems to need an engineers visit to adapt my smart meter. I thought it would be switched at Octopus, then read a post about linking Octopus to an EV Charger and alarm bells sounded......
Phew, thought I'd scored an own goal......
Yes a smart meter is a requirement as you are meter is read every 1/2 hour and you are bill is totalled at the end of the billing period (1 month). For these tarrifs do you need a smart meter fitted ? as i live in a rural location and no mobile signal hence cant have a smart meter !
Think they are talking about a analogue Economy 7 not smart as no mobile signal (I know the smart meters use a all networks sim so may work where you don't get mobile signal)A smart meter is free and it will do Economy 7.
Do you mean a separate Meter for E7.No good to me i have even looked into economy 7 but they want £150 for a meter - and then the day rates go up
It was a very casual "oh what EV do you have?", as if they were ticking the box to confirm I had one. Octopus installed my charge point, so they should know already. I think if you're already on go, it's a very loose rule. If you want to get onto Go as a new customer I believe they are insisting you do have an EV.I don't think they're too strict on this.
My neighbour has just renewed her Go tariff and she doesn't have an EV.
