Yesterday after charging the car at home when I got in the IPK display was blank. I can select both Drive & Reverse and the car operates as expected, but with many systems not working I suspect. Indicators are silent for example.

I tried a software reboot, push and hold Home, to see if it helped but it didn't.

I currently have the battery disconnected to see if a half hour power off will help.

Before I go hunting for the F5 fuse am I right in thinking if the F5 fuse had blown then the car would not go into gear? The manual suggests F5 powers the IPK and Gear Selector and as the gear dial lights up and lets me select drive then I'm thinking I might be wasting my time checking it?

Other than removing the IPK and checking the plug hasn't fallen off can anyone suggest anything else worth checking before I book it into a garage?

The car did this once before, about 3 months ago, and both times it has been after charging the car to 100%. I have no idea if that is related. Last time the fault cleared itself after driving for about 30 minutes then leaving the car for an hour. This time the fault is not going away by itself :(

I dont have a SIPS interface and too be honest I dont have the experience or bravery to try to do software updates and try recoding it so im only looking for basic DIY checks i can make before giving up and hoping i can find a dealer who'll fix it and not be useless.

Thanks in advance
Rich

UPDATE:

Disconnecting the battery for an hour did the trick. Got every warning under the sun flash up but after taking the car for a short drive all seems well again.

If this happened when I got back in the car after stopping at a motorway services it would be quite worrying. I assume most of the safety systems were not working while the IPK was down as when I drove over white lines last night I didn't get a parental nudge from the car warning of my imminent doom.

As many of you probably do already I'll be keeping a 10mm spanner in the car from now on, just in case.

Do any of you knowledgeable folks know if there are any software updates that are meant to address a temperamental IPK display that I can plead with a dealer to install when it goes in for its 3 year service in the new year?

That is worrying, particularly as it has happened before. My display sometimes takes a little while to start but has never failed to start.

Did you try the lock/unlock a number of times before you disconnected the battery? If your iSmart works you could have tried cabin heating to reduce the HV battery from the 100% level in case that caused the problem.
