LANE ASSIST RECALL

So I was in my local MY dealer's on Tuesday , and was advised that there was a recall on the MG4. It was a Lane Assist recall and they did the upgrade there and then. I don't use Lane Assist at all; indeed I turn it off each time I get into the car, but I wondered if you all have had the same recall as me and if so, what if any difference it has made ?
N.B. This software update was, of course free of charge

As far as I'm aware there is no recall, but a service bulletin SC077

I can also confirm that it is the SC077, that I also made.
After it was done, all LKA problem are gone.

Had mine done last month at the second service, it's totally transformed the car, no violent tugging of the wheel just a beep and a warning from the drivers screen and a gentle push of the wheel back into the lane.

Well, the letter from MG (in English) stated Recall. Anyway, no problem.

If it is an official recall the manufacturer has to log it with the DVLA and it will be on the Government website

As per others it is SC077. Also as per many others, after getting it I never feel the need to turn off LKA at all now.

I don't find it annoying anymore, its like a different car after the update including TJA steering, much smoother.

However I still turn it off if anyone else is in the car cos every time it beeps I get the same "Oh! ... what was that?" question.

I just turn off the alert sound.

(Yes, you have to do it each time, it doesn't remember the setting).

As it is due to EU rules with which the UK is aligned, you would have to disable the alert sound every time you start the car, even if it did remember other settings.

Booked my X Power in for its 1st service,
at MG Chorley 15th Sept. And the girl said your cars got a recall, for the LKA. So I'm presuming that it's the SC077. So some dealers are calling it a recall.
Trouble is my LKAs never bothered me at all, as said above, just a been a beep and slight tug of the wheel, so think I might pass on it.
Thinking if it ain't broke....

Same with mine, LKA has been a total non-issue, I get a bleep and a small tug once every few days.

@JIS is in France so not covered by the DVLA

Might be an interesting situation if you refuse a service campaign update and are then involved in an accident. Would your insurance pay out?

I wouldn’t make it 100 metres down the road without lka complaining. It is a truely evil feature conceived by the devil himself and must be defeated.
Please some good soul give us a way to permanently turn it off

Think they'd know? I realise they are sneaky bastards. But would they really go that deep, into it.

In a serious accident where someone gets seriously hurt or killed, most certainly.

So you get the update. And hopefully MG have logged, that you've had it. So IF they check, you are ok. But you still turn LKA off, and it was off, when you had an accident. Would they know that.? At the moment I never turn it off. As mine's ok. So covered there. So what's the point in having the update.

Towing mode apparently disables it, but you also lose other stuff you may want.

Yep, most European countries have a much more strict road safety regime than the UK.
