Good Evening,
Having just taken delivery of an MG4 Trophy in black I am a little surprised that there appears to be no metallic fleck visible in the finish. Has anyone else noticed this or should I make an appointment with Specsavers?

I thought only the grey is metallic. I think it’s a flat black but I have not seen one in the flesh.

It's described as Black Pearl which usually has microscopic ceramic particles added instead of metal powder.
You probably will only notice it in strong sunlight.

I see on the brochure it’s described as Black Pearl Metallic* (*Metallic, tri-coat and premium paint optional at extra cost.) Perhaps it’s more of a pearlescent paint which is more subtle and can only be seen depending on the angle and strength of the light.

I gave my Black Trophy its first was and wax yesterday and it came up very nice (then it rained). I think there is something in the paint that's very granular rather than the flecks usually found in metallic paint. The car finish is actually very good although i have arranged for a machine polish and ceramic coating to be done in the new year. One point to note on cleaning is that there are a lot of nooks and crannies (part of the angular design) in the bodywork. this makes cleaning and polishing a very involved process.
