MG 4 traffic stop issue.

This is another software fault thread.
Report it to dealer.
People keep saying just use autohold. I don't think of that as the solution. The electronic handbrake has a fault and it should be fixed by MG.

It soon becomes second nature. My dealer activated it for me, although I said, I just keep my foot on the brake. But then that little extra push was so easy.

You'll get to the point where, when the perennial "autohold fault" appears, you'll get a bit cross. (It's not a real problem. It's random. When it happens, either drive without the autohold (and keep your foot on the brake), or get out of the car, close the door and lock it, and get back in again.
There's a really annoying quirk that if you just hold the brake the car is still using battery to try to drive forwards and fighting against the brake. If I lightly put my foot on the break pedal the power % sits at about 5%

I think MG did this to pretend to be like an old automatic transmission. They have an issue where they physically have to creep forward as part of a limitation of it's design. There is no need for an electric car to move forwards if you aren't using the accelerator but MG decided to waste battery and my frustration by simulating that issue

No need to get out either, if you go into the menu where you set the driving mode, LKA etc, on the furthest right tab, safety I think, has an option to power off the car. Then just bounce your ass off the seat and the car will start again

You can hold the brake lightly forever and the A won't kick in - it needs a good push to activate... more so than both the A6 and Corolla that have had the function previously, which was more of a time thing on a lighter application of braking
Yeah, if the speedometer is reading 0km/h for more than a second or two autohold should kick in

And then there are those of us who prefer the "creep" feature as it feels more natural (having come from an ICE car, and having driven ICE automatics). ;)

If you press the brake pedal a bit harder, the power % will go down to zero before auto hold kicks in.

I've lost the post where somebody mentions you can turn off autohold by touching the brake. I had the chance to try this today, sitting in a traffic jam. When you stop, put on autohold using the brake. When the car in front creeps forward a couple of metres then stops again release autohold by touching the brake, and allow your car to creep forward a bit then put autohold back on again. Repeat for 10 minutes.

One pedal driving (modified)!
