This thread is for IM5 owners to build a single wish list of features and improvements they would like to see on the car.
Please post any features you feel are missing, incomplete, or not working as expected as a reply to this thread. If possible, include:
  • what you want changed
  • why it matters
  • any steps to reproduce (for bugs)
  • photos or screenshots if relevant
The most important items should be listed first.

Established members can edit this first post to keep the list up to date. Items should be ordered by general consensus as the discussion develops.

MG are known to read the forum. The aim is to provide clear, prioritised feedback that can help shape future IM5 updates, ideally via OTA software updates where possible.

Having just got mine yesterday, a few things spring to mind:

  1. Let us reposition the rear view camera. I'd probably prefer it on the right of the hud where the odometer etc. is but multiple options would be nice. The wheel currently obscures it.
  2. Rearrange/hide apps. I'd personally like to hide tiktok, carplay and others from the top screen and move Android Auto up there.
  3. Bluetooth autoconnection so AA can load up automatically
  4. Remove the vpn block on the app. It refuses to work even when whitelisted. There's no valid reason for you to have this block in place. Other car apps are fine with it, as are my banking apps.

Something I’d like to see but haven’t seen mentioned before is user profiles. A profile would store everything - seat and mirror positions, radio station, adas settings etc.
Then buttons on widget panel to select driver 1 or driver 2 (so not automatic to cover adas rules).

Here are my software fix requests..

1. Terrible ACC/Pilot. (Summary: Don't brake late & aggressively to slow down, just ease off earlier)
2. Dashcam.. record from rear camera as well as front. (maybe even sentry mode in future).
3. Move the rear view camera view left a bit (currently obscured by steering wheel).
4. Don't close Carplay on the top screen when you interact with the bottom screen.
5. Self park / curbside / reverse are all unreliable and need work.

  1. Reposition the rear mirror display to the left the steering wheel obscures it.
  2. Improve DAB radio when it transfers to FM it never goes back to DAB automatically.
  3. Allow apps and Icons on main screen to be editable I would like to delete/replace the Apple airplay as I use AA and don't know who would own a car and use both
  4. An after market parcel shelf would be nice to keep things out of site.
  5. A second NFC car and/or car fob would be useful that also cold be programmed to adjust the driving seat to suit the owner.
  6. Amending the design of the main car key to incorporate the back up manual key where are you supposed to keep this and when it's needed in an emergency what do you use to give enough pressure to turn it.
  7. Bigger drunk I have looked under the cover but would be surprised to find that the standard range motor would allow a bigger drunk to store the charging cable. A luxury saloon car with a charging cable slopping around in the boot???
  8. Unless I missed something (only had the car 2 weeks) the main screen is dead space unless AA or Car play is being shown. It would be better if things like climate controls and windscreen controls were able to be put there or at least made as an option.
  9. Better YouTube tutorials showing tips and tricks I have just found out that you can close the centre screen by putting your hand on it and drawing your fingers together....very minority report....

There are parcels shelfs available. Not that you can see in the boot in any case. I have a leather holder for the fob and the mech key is also kept inside. The mech key is easy to use as it is but I would suggest you test it before you need it!

There is a rear fog light button on the home screen, but it won't work unless you drill through menus to turn lights on manually; no option for headlight 'button' on main screen or voice activation.
The fog light button could easily turn on dip lights too. Or add a physical light switch.

Add some usefull voice activation commands and publish the list and exact phrasing required.
