MG take note (customer service)

Why would you get a car that you only liked the looks of 'to a degree'?

I don't see the front generic personally, I think the front is one of the best angles. It's sporty but tidy.

It looks nothing like an astra or focus to my eyes, at all. It's a hatchback, which is where the similarities end IMO. I think side profile it looks similar to the newest leaf, but not identical. Rear reminds me of the flat light housing of the civic, but only the flatness.

Seen quite a few borns kicking around my way, not my cup of tea personally. It's like they've taken the front end of the Leon and glued it to the arse end of a BMW 2 Series MPV (grand tourer?) And rebadged it with the smart looking Cupra badge.

Crazy how differently people see things. I like some of the colour options mind you.

Every car is a compromise on looks, can’t think of a single car I’ve had (and it’s well over 40 cars) that I thought was gorgeous all round.
I’d say my Alfa 156 came closest, probably, maybe.
It’s funny that you don’t think the 4 is reminiscent of an Astra/Focus/whatever, but you do think it’s like a leaf (which is another generic hatchback)
Only so much they can do when fed all the same parameters into a computer.
“Alexa, design me a four door hatchback that complies with all these requirements……oh…”

Car designs nowadays are compromised by having to be friendly to pedestrians if they make contact with them and aerodynamic for fuel efficiency and a whole bunch of other regulations.
Which is why they no longer look like this....

Then there’s the old lack of EV choice to add the ‘looks’ argument.
I personally think the Peugeot e-208 is one of the best looking hatchbacks out there, but it’s too low powered for my tastes.

On the customer service front with my Tesla, one of the rear lights had condensation in it, uploaded some photos in the app, they got back to me on the same day saying they'll do it under warranty and asked for a date and address. Put my work address in and on the day a mobile tech came down, changed the light and was off again in 15mins. I went out to meet him but found out I didn't even have to do that, he locked it and unlocked it from the Tesla mothership, scary really but amazing at the same time. Didn't even have to speak or see another human if I didnt want to, which for me is just the best, I hate making phones calls or having to go out of my way  .
I can't imagine the faff that would have been if I waited out my order for the MG and had a similar problem.

This is surely the eventual future model all will copy.
No need for big chrome and glass buildings full of techs.
Of course Tesla are fortunate they’ve never made ICE cars that will still be around needing servicing and repairs for decades.
I wonder at what point mixed ICE and EV makers will pull the plug on their buildings and leave their ICE clients looking for garages.

My local garage gave me a Stead-E bear when I picked up my MG4. Mr Stead started the tradition when he opened Eric Strad motors. I got a self-addressed envelope for sending back my bear's name and apparently you get a (birth) certificate in return. I called mine Dennis, after the lovely gentleman who sold me the car ? he sits on my shelf in the living room now.
