My wife has just had a new ZS EV delivered from lease company 4 days ago, today was the first time she had passengers in it taking the kids to school but then found out when in a mad rush that both passenger front and rear door handles don't open the doors. It's like they both have child locks turned on as the handles move and aren't stiff or jammed but the doors just don't open. We've turned on and off the rear child lock but it made no difference. The doors work from the outside no problem and we also think the front passenger door has worked once or maybe twice but most times it won't and the rear never works. Just wonder if anyone has had the same issue and / or if there's a knack or if it's a fault and has to go back to a dealer to be checked over, which will be a right royal PITA..

I don't suppose you might have inadvertently locked the car from inside?

After you come to a stop, the doors remain locked until, you switch the car off. If you want to get out with the car on and the doors locked you have to pull the interior handle twice to open the doors or just get the driver press the unlock button on his door, it has an orange light on it when the doors are locked.

I have problems getting passengers in as well. I'm short, so I can't reach the passenger door from the drivers seat. A friend tried to get into the passenger seat, the door would not open, I pressed the unlock button on the drivers door but still would not open. In the end I had to open the driver door and that seemed to unlock the passenger door. Haven't had anyone in the back seat yet, heaven knows what happens then!

You can switch off the auto locking if you wish
True.

I rather like the standard behaviour personally. Once the double interior door pull trick is learnt (& that does seem a rather clunky implementation) I haven't sworn at it at all. Auto wipers? 🙄Grrr

Double pull is quite common in lots of cars.

I've had the same issue on my new Trophy connect LR we picked up last week. The front passenger side door does not open from the inside but surprisingly it happens intermittently. Tried locking unlocking from driver side, double pull etc but it works sometimes, it doesnt work sometimes. Took it back to the dealership and they have ordered a 'latch' for the first passenger side. I was given an explanation that it shouldnt have worked rear passenger side too if there was something wrong with the mechanism. But the fact that it was only one of the doors, they weren't sure. I did not quite agree but was told that the 'latch' ordrered should fix it. I dont trust my dealership as they are known to fly arrows in thin air most of times and their reasoning is more often than not quite bizzare. But will wait and see if the 'latch' does any magic!

I have had my LR ZS EV for a couple of weeks - nailed the double pull to open the door, but at the weekend, I had the passenger trapped issue, and it’s replicated itself on a couple of other occasions since. Spoke to the dealer yesterday, and he reckons he’s had one other instance of this, which was caused by a lack of factory-applied grease, and should be easily rectified. I’m booked in in a couple of weeks time to have it looked at.

On my Mk1 one of the rear door handles failed to operate at all, from inside or outside.
The dealer had to take all the trim off from inside with the door closed, then fitted a who!e new lock. He said I was not the only one.....

Same thing happening here on a brand new ZS EV. Passenger and rear left door won't open from the inside, but work fine from the outside.

Collected our ZS EV yesterday. Exactly same problem. Dealer confirmed had same problem with another new vehicle last week. Thought undergreased mechanism at fault and said it was fixed before we drove away. Got home, definitely not fixed. Will have to go back.

I seem to have this with mine which was delivered today. Only drivers door opens from the inside all others have to be opened from the outside. Checked child locks were off and played with the door lock setting but not sure why they do this yet. Wait for daylight tomorrow methinks before tinkering further.

I haven’t (yet) had a problem with mine, but I am off to Halfords tomorrow for one of the recommended lubricants. I know I have ‘ordinary’ WD40, but I never realised there were many variants for different purposes.
Better to have something in the cupboard, just in case, than waiting till you get stuck. Literally!
