MG ZS EV Shipping Updates

I don't understand, Luscombe's in Leeds had about 15 unregistered new vehicles(all LR Trophy's I believe) to sell according to the salesman only a couple of weeks ago. I decided I wanted a ZS EV LR Trophy Connect last Weds, paid for it Friday and had it delivered yesterday. Albeit mine was a pre-reg so not brand new but I could have had a brand new one that they had in stock for a couple of £k more.

Strange there's people waiting over a year for their car yet the same cars sat in dealerships waiting to be sold.
These are likely to be orders that some customers had become fed up of the LONG wait times.
The customer cancels, but the dealer retains the order and uses them for stock.
Deals that have been made in the past ( maybe on lower finance rates / agreed high trade in prices etc ) have now long gone.
So, the dealer registers the car in it's own name and then moves it on as a "pre-reg" car to a walk in customer off the street.
Similar to an X Demo model, but much better IMO.
I have bought a few pre-reg cars over the years and these are brand new cars in every sense of the word, but are viewed as a second hand sale on the books.
Many of these cars have less than 20 miles on the clock.
When I have sold on these cars at a later date, the affect on it's value is extremely small, if anything at all.
Many people view this type of practice as completely normal practice in the motor trade.
It has been going on for donkeys years.
I remember about 30 years ago when Ford decided it wanted to increase it's car sale figures quickly in the rankings.
It shipped hundreds of Fiesta's and Escort over to Jersey then had drivers put about 20 miles on the clock and then shipped them back to the main land of the U.K.
They where then all sold off through many of the auction sites up and down the country and second hand car dealers flocked to snap them up !.
All brand new cars with less than 50 miles on the clock, absolute bargains.
I bought one for my wife 🤣 .

Hmmm not sure there's going to have been 15 cancelled orders!

My car was a pre-reg although the new service manager had been given it to run around in so had 1300 miles on it. Still £8k below list and no wait, no brainer for me.

With 1,300 miles covered, I think that qualifies it as a demo model then, happy with the deal and the price you paid, plus no wait time, then you are sorted.
Enjoy !.

A demo model is a car that's been used as a demonstrator (been test driven by lots of potential customers). I don't believe mine has.

Unity MG Balsall Common has about 8 unregistered cars in various colours / specs. Seem to have had them a couple of weeks. Also quite a few 4s in stock and MG5s. They are all priced up to sell.

I ordered a MG ZS EV LR Luxury here in Belgium back in January and was able to pick it up this week. I read that the sunroof on the Trophy (UK?) has been discontinued, however this is apparently not the case for the Luxury.

The U.K. and Belgium have different equipment levels, this is not uncommon with a lot of manufacturers.
Body colours can also be of a different availability.
The VAG group offer a much wider choice of body / trim colours in Europe over the U.K.

Just a quick update about my MG ZS EV reservation in Spain:

At the start of August we made the reservation of a pebble black SR ZS EV Comfort (SE) at the car dealer, initially, they told us that the waiting time would be between 2 and 6 months.

Last week we got a call (3 weeks after reservation) from the dealer saying that if we wanted the Luxury (Trophy) version instead, we could have it delivered by the end of this month (September) and we accepted.

So at the moment we are waiting and hoping that they could meet this date... let's see.

M5 northbound near Stroud this morning, 2 transporters loaded with a variety of MGs, presumably from Portbury. If anyone is waiting, hopefully you'll be getting a call soon. :)

Update: We should get our car this week!

As we have been told, nearly everything is ready, they are doing the final inspections/updates and plate registration.

I've traded up a year. Bought my black ZS long range exclusive (Irish naming for the top spec) for €36,500 in July 22.

MG offered me €35,000 trade in which I felt was good but wanted €7.5k cash too (the price increase since I bought it has brought it up to €42,500. So I initially walked away.

I checked Tesla and BYD and they would only give me €21k !! So was locked into MG if I wanted to change.

About two weeks later MG emailed about a promo offer to knock €1500 off if I bought before mid October so went back and agreed the 6k.

They had some on site too so no waiting. Agreed the sale on Thursday and I'll be in town on Tuesday to pick it up.

They had one Red ZS that still had the sunroof parked inside the showroom. So I managed to snag that. It's one of the last few sunroof ones in the country. I think they had one other black one on the system but I fancied a change of colour.

Happy enough. After a year driving its been good, it's not worth the €42k asking price though. At 36k you could overlook the short comings. But at only 4 grand less than the model Y and €1500 more than the top spec atto 3, it's lost its spot in the market as being high spec'd but very cheap.

Will keep me going until the next facelift now.

I ordered one through Zenith our company lease provider last August for delivery in March. This has been continuously put back month by month. Last update was for delivery early September.
Ordered ours via Zenith which is a work scheme in August 2022, it is now arriving 20th October with 9am to 12 midday delivery slot.

I bought my ZS EV trophy connect LR via a broker and it was delivered in a few days. I will try it at a Tesla open charger to see how new it is!
