I always lock my car, plug in the charging cable to my wall box and in about 20 seconds it starts charging. Works every time.
Car in READY state means you can select Drive. READY state <> sitting on the seat to turn the car On; you have to press the brake pedal to engage READY state. That's not true in my experience.
Indeed, I can't think of a time when I've charged and the car hasn't been in ready mode.
A few times it has had to be in Ready mode for you to tap the "start" charging icon on the infotainment screen if the charging session hasn't automatically initiated.
After it's kicked off, then you can lock the car turning it off and wander away...
Yes, and ???Car in READY state means you can select Drive. READY state <> sitting on the seat to turn the car On; you have to press the brake pedal to engage READY state.
You can't plug it in when it's locked, the charge port is locked.does a manual charge start ok if the vehicle is already locked when plugging in?

Exactly. If I lock my car before plugging in, the charge port cover won't open.
Because as soon as you leave the driver's seat it drops out of the READY state. (And opening the driver's door will apply the P brake too, if not already done).Exactly.
Typical charging scenario here is wife or I get home in our respective MG4's and park in the driveway.
Car is still in ready mode coz why wouldn't it be?
Is in Park of course, coz we've parked and put it in said park rather than forward or reverse!
Get out and plug in charging cable.
Lock car and go inside.
If it's a "charging time" car will start charging. If it's the high tariff time and the charger is scheduled to "wait" it won't charge immediately and will only commence charging when the charging schedule of the charger enables it
Absolutely nothing to do with "Ready mode".

What a ******! And, of course completely wrong.Yes, and ???
... There was an assertion that the car can NOT charge in Ready state. That is complete bollocks.
I was trying to be polite.
No need to now.
