MG4 Charging power 0.0kW

Hi All,

I got an MG4 Trophy LR last week. I've had issues with charging it when on a schedule from either the charger or the car. The charger I have is a Project EV Apex charger. If I plug the car into the charger and want it to charge straight away it works absolutely fine. The issue I have is my cheap ev tariff runs between 00:00 and 05:00AM. When i plug the car in and a schedule is set for these times the charger shows as charging and the car also shows as charging but on the car it shows the Charging power is 0.0kW. The only way I've found to resolve this issue is to unlock and relock the car once in the above charging state and then all of a sudden it works and charges at 7kW on both the charger and the car. Has anyone else had this? If so please can you share if it was the charger or the car.

Same experience with our Indra Smart Pro.
I have to set a schedule on the MG4 to match when Octopus Intelligent gives the charging slots.
Occasionally this fails.
The trick I have is to stop the charge and then restart in the app.
It's a pain if the charging slots are not all consecutive.
My wife's Kia has no issue

This is interesting. We had our Wifi module of the Zappi replaced & I thought we’d cracked the issue. But the last 2 charges with Intelligent Octopus Go doing the scheduling have failed & when I’ve looked on the MG app, it is back to charging at 0.0kW. However a quick unlock & relock (using key fob not app as app said it didn’t have sufficient voltage???) got it charging properly again. Obviously not practical if the charging is happening at 2am, it just so happened that my son woke me early & it was still scheduled to charge so I checked this morning. If I set the MG charging schedule to cover the whole of the period that octopus wants, would that keep it awake enough to respond to charge boosts? Or maybe unlock & lock again before we go to bed? I’m also wondering if the 12V battery is an issue too. We had an issue where it went completely flat a few months ago. Was told I needed to granny charge once a month. However have been charging via eco plus rules in summer sun a lot (we have solar panels) & that is quite a slow charge, so would have thought the rebalancing would occur. My other thought is that I didn’t have the mg app over the summer as it logged me out & I managed to unbind it from the car. Finally got round to sorting this recently. I understand the app drains the 12V battery too. Could this also be the problem?
Super frustrating!

I don’t have an Indra or octopus but setting slots on the car and my charger was a no no, I just had to let the charger do its thing with no schedules set on the car. Also I had very irritating issues with my scheduled charging failing when there was power line networking kit in my house. I would have to open the mg app and tell the car to start (removed the power line kit and voila it worked reliably after).

Just a thought or 2.

A couple of things, you say you are on intelligent octopus go but talk about setting up a schedule on the MG app, you don't need any schedule with the car or charger with IOG you just set up how much charge you want to add and when you need it ready by.
I have an ohme so do that on the app (not sure with indra)

I have no schedule set and nothing restricting the charging periods (nothing set to cheap rate only)
And nothing set in the car

Yes, it is very frustrating. I think it is software related and not the 12V battery. Not had any warnings or flat 12V.
