Hi Everyone

Great forum BTW and have been reading through a lot of stuff over the last few days

My story is simple really, I bought a 2023 MG4 which had had a slight bump at the front

With a view to repairing it, I have done this type of project in the past, and wasn't overly concerned

NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED

Of course things were not quite as expected, with damage to bits I hadn't spotted!

However..... My BIGGEST issue right now is the Red flashing EPS (power steering) warning on the dash

There was a lot more, but since popping the front bumper back on, and re-connecting the radar, most warnings have gone except for the EPS

I have tried the manual re-calibration, full lock right, then Left then centre, turn off car, and restart

I have also tried to boost the battery in case it was too weak

But nothing helps!!

I have seen a few threads relating to a VNCI and some software, but not sure what is needed in this instance?

I have seen the VNCI on Ali Express at £125 then I think I need some software called Sips?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated, but try to bear in mind I am not a massive tech head, so be gentle

BTW all of this is being covered on my YouTube channel too, if anyone might be interested

I hope the link is allowed Admin.

Thanks Rolfe

I did check the other threads, but they seemed to be more concerned with resetting airbag modules etc etc

Couldn't find anything on the Red flashing EPS as yet

But hopefully someone can help 🙄

Best thing would be to read the fault codes to see why
Using mg software you'd need the Vnci interface and VDS software
If you need assistance let me know
If you're near Coventry I can check for you (already have interface & software

Unfortunately I'm in Cornwall

But I might pick your brains once I rescan the car Friday..

It wouldn't let us in very well before, as the bumper was off and was throwing up pedestrian collision warnings, but now the only things are a Yellow lane assist which I'm assuming will go once we drive it?

And of course the Red flashing EPS

Hopefully an expensive ADAS diagnosis scanner can help

But I'm not 100% convinced right now 🤔

When you did your basic manoeuvrings into the driveway was the steering stiff ? I'm sure you have checked all the fuses , perhaps the earth path for the electric steering box was dislodged in its accident and/or the electrical connections points. Also assuming you have had the 12v battery either out or disconnected , a hard reset by reconnecting it sometimes can clear some of the faults.
All a bit basic I know , but sometimes can get overlooked when lights are flashing insisting its going to be an expensive day. By the way I subscribed a few days back. Good luck. ✔️

Yes very stiff trying to drive around the block

The earth lead was disconnected when it arrived, as was the HV circuit breaker by the battery.

When reconnected it was OK to drive, but I've had the earth on and off a few times since, and not made any difference

I took off the engine cover, and can see the steering motor, all seems fine there, with 3 large wires connected all on as they should be.

From what I have read so far, the recalibrate methods only really work with a Yellow waring sign, but if it's flashing Red as mine is, it's more serious

Although I can't see any damage except for what was shown in this week's video, just suspension.

Thanks for subscribing too! 😁

Welcome Bud, I assume yours is the smurf (blue) coloured one, is it the same radar that came off the original car? (as it may have component protection enabled) - I fixed a VW TRoc which needed a new radar, was easy to fit, but needed CP removed (via ODIS), and recalibrated (by parking 1200mm from a wall), likewise the power steering didn't work until i resolved the ADAS (you dont need an expensive scanner / target unless its the camera in the windscreen = unlikely), otherwise a broken ABS sensor?, as you say SAIC has SIPS (like ODIS for VAG cars), which you can buy daily access for a few euros

Yes it's the Blue 😁

And yes same radar, I just took it off the old bumper,

I have mate coming over Friday to rescan, and I should have any trouble codes then.

Really hoping I don't have to buy another scanner just for this!

Plus the ball ache of working out how to use Sips etc

I'm planning on taking a quick spin down the motorway if they scan Friday doesn't help, just to see if I can get it to reboot.

If it was Abs sensor it would show on the dash no?

I wonder if the radar (ADAS) needs resetting? But not sure that would disable EPS?

Noted, good news it wont be the radar then, as @OriginalBigAl says, check the earth to the power steering motor aswell as all the fuses under the dash and under the bonnet, it may not come up on an expensive diagnostic. On my MG4 a cheap £20 topdon will at least scan the MG4. Also have a look at the Google Drive on @haloweenhamster website, as all MG documentation is available - I managed up update the software (to R40) by reading the manual and searching around, within the hour.

To recalibrate on the mg4 you start it via sips then go for a 5 minute drive from memory between 30 and 50 kmph on a road with street lights
I calibrated the radar & front camera that improved lka

.....that sounds like VAG cars (via ODIS), you can do either a static or dynamic recalibration (as I understand it SAIC & VAG use Bosch for their ADAS)
