MG4 EV ES Digital Key Activation Failed

Hi, I have had my MG4 ES for a week and I'm getting on great with it. The only issue I have is that it won't activate the digital key on the iSmart App. The binding woks, but when I try and activate the digital key, it just says 'Activation Failed'.

Also, when connected, the app doesn't give me any information about the car - all data fields are blank.

MG UK just said the bluetooth needs to be in range which was extremely unhelpful. I've tried it when sitting in the car and the bluetooth is connected for calls / audio.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi sorted this now. You need to accept the privacy policy in settings

I found the issue… it’s to approve the policy privacy on the vehicle itself setting not on the app settings then it started working like a charm ?

can you please elaborate on that? i have the latest xpower which i've got a week ago, in the beginning the car was not activated and 2 days ago i could finally click on "re-activate" both on map and the other stuf i don't recall now. and i could connect my app and add bind the car.
but still can't get my digital key get activated, it keeps saying "activation failed" and nothing is shown in the car details. looks like the remote connection to the car is not working, yet.

i do have the privacy policy marked with "I agree" and then i've marked "map", "voice" and "online music" enabled - is it what you mean to when you say "approved the policy privacy on the vehicle itself?"

What I've seen here and in other fora is that you should repeat the approve process after the first time. It worked for me to get the navi activated also.

Go back to the privacy policy screen. Disable it and enable it again. Then repeat. That is what I did. From that point the maps worked. Maybe it resets properly for the key to work as well.

I'll try to remember to test mine again ... it worked fine last time I used it, and it still shows as being activated in the app.

PS - the SE was never specified as supporting the digital key, but mine does. ?‍♂️

thanks but it didn't help... the dealer said it's a global known issue with recent new cars and it's been handled with MG china, but i don't trust him so much...
 
Is this still an issue for anyone? As I have just managed to activate it after it's driven me crazy for 6 weeks! Let me know if you'd like me to share what I did in here
 
Mine doesn't work. It did at first, then broke when I rebuilt my phone and had never worked since. It will unlock the car but it will not start - key not detected
 
Have you tried unbinding your phone and re-binding it?
No point in doing that, because the car is bound to an account, not a device (e.g. phone). ;)

On the device it would be better to clear cache and data, uninstall the app, reboot the device, reinstall the app, then sign in to the account.

You're probably right but just sharing what worked for me :)
 
I've gone through two phones, tried just about everything (including unbinding the car) and it still does not work.

There were older versions of the iSmart that showed the digital key(s). That showed I had over half a dozen keys on the server at one point which is probably the problem. I suspect the app is using a different key from the car.
