MG4 experience

I like this forum it's amongst the best due to a good core of great members that's knowledge is second to none, they have helped so many people in recent months, there are also people that love a bit of good banter and don't take stuff to seriously
.
That was until @tsedge became a you tube star tonight and became to big to socialise with us mere mortals.
I will never forget my roots @Leni16 nor the inspiration you in particular have provided in so many posts. Fear not, I will continue to inhabit this earthly plane.

Hey everyone, let's try to keep it civil and on topic please :)
As Ian said there wasn't really a new topic as such, just a new member having a rant in completely the wrong manner, he was rightly warned about his post. The tone, capitals etc

Unfortunately the usual digs in response have been allowed to slide these have also included the use of capitals, nothing said to those members.

As I said there is a sliding scale of what appears to be acceptable on here.

To just put a post out asking people to be civil isn't addressing the issue.

I may annoy certain people but I am civil, I will however continue to call out responses that are just having a go at members because they had the temerity to criticise the car.

Admin/ mods need to apply the rules across the board, no matter if your post is positive or negative about MG unfortunately there are various examples of this not happening.

Admin used the example to walking into a pub and shouting swearing and criticising it, saying someone wouldn't do that in reality.
As I said with that example most of the people with smart replies wouldn't speak up and say them face to face with the person in the same situation.

So exactly the same rules should apply, admins example not mine!

Be as well closing it, another example of double standards

It's a start. Next steps are more invasive. People seem to keep wanting to have the last word. Moderators like me don't spend every second of every day looking at each and every post.
I understand that and appreciate people give up there time to assist but the rules should be applied across the board, you can't have one member quite rightly being warned for tone, petulance capitals etc.
Then 3 or 4 others doing the same and getting told nothing.
Lets please not show the disrespect that the OP has earned.
Then when one member does get told of for making petulant comments to the OP this is what he gets.

As I've said it's not the first time, it can be a green light to sarcastic comments or a pile on if some members are deemed to be critical

I have had a couple of despicable personal comments myself, not long after registering here. Several detestable persons on here sadly ruining a great forum with much helpful advice to MG/near to be owners.

OK. If people feel offended or aggrieved, they can always report it. One of the moderators or the site owner will look into it. As we all have real lives to lead, this will not happen immediately. Going into the how and why people respond as they do is outside of the scope of this thread, which has now deviated into something different and for that reason I'm shutting it down.

I feel a bit sorry for the OP. (Taking it at face value and not as a deliberate troll.)

He has spent a big chunk of money on a purchase most people make only a few times in their lives - a brand new car. He was surely expecting to be enjoying his new purchase. Instead something has happened to sour this badly for him. What should have been a great experience has become one of frustration and disappointment and regret.

Realistically, there are two possibilities. The car might really be a lemon, or he has an perfectly OK car but he doesn't understand how to interpret its performance and potential.

If the car really is a lemon then people on this forum could have helped to establish that fact, and helped him get redress from the dealer, and hopefully get the issues with the car fixed.

If he simply doesn't understand how to interpret the figures and so on, then people on this forum who are delighted with exactly the same car he has could have explained all this to him and helped him to realise what a great car he really has.

And he threw away the chance of either of these things happening by posting a drive-by rant and then vanishing. It's such a shame.

Hi ,

Just buy my MG4 on 10th April 2023.
MG4 disappoint me from first day..regret to buy it and warn other peoples plz don't buy this sh*t car..just waste on money ..MG range claim is totally bullsh*t ..want authorities to investigate their range as its not even near by as MG claim..its real range for 64KW/h is around 170-180 most of driving in city and 10% on motor way at speed around 50 miles.

It's rear demister is NIGHTMARE , TAKE AGES TO DRY THE FOG..CABIN LIGHT IS JOKE..ALL OTHER CABIN INTERIOR IS NOT CHEAP BUT ITS TOOOOOOOO CHEAP...REGRET TO BUY ...TOTALLY BULLsh*t ALL MG CLAIMS DONT TRUST THEIR FIGURES...FEELING REGRET, REGRET,REGRET ...WASTE OF MONEY
Thats a real shame. I agree its not perfect, but its a great fun car to drive I love it. I have gotten up to 275 miles in my MG Trophy and that was a lot of motorway. On the motorway I set the car in Eco mode in auto @65mph. If I do the normal 70 plus drive I get around 235 miles. As you can see from my photo 304 miles on 100% charge. I hope you change your mind soon.

I'll have you know my comment was not petulant, was merely a bit of humour in light of what read as an angry individual ranting about some alleged 'problems they have' on a public forum.

Personally I did doubt the legitimacy of the post, by the way it was written, at 2am, mentioning only the common issues that were being addressed on posts that same day.

I'm no detective, but my spidey-senses were a-tingling.

I understand that some are all too easy to be offended these days though, at least we have brave knights to step in and fight for equality and .. whatnot.

Exactly that, he was wrong but I wouldn't rush back after the comments he got, would you?

Again it's appreciated that the mods give up their time to help and a forum shouldn't need a referee, people will always disagree about stuff, that's life.
It's how they respond that matters, two wrongs don't make a right and all that.

I do think new/newish members who are getting comments won't report it they will just leave the forum, which is a real shame as most know how good it is.
As I said above when I quoted it doesn't help that admin said about the OPs comments getting the disrespect he had earned, that's just a green light to post more.

Anyway I feel like we are going round in circles appreciate the replies and attempt at an explanation @ARealHuman

Did so well with the explanation there especially the sarcastic flourish (bit of humour) at the end
