Anyone finding that if you need to hit the brakes, the rears are locking up (albeit for 0.5- 2 seconds or so) - all on dry roads (less than 40mph?) ??

If it's happening then it's extremely dangerous and the car needs to go back to the dealer for rectification.
Nothing like that happened in ours over nearly 2,000 miles despite wet and muddy roads.
If you can reproduce it then go back and look for tyre marks on the road - they should be quite obvious.

Hit the brakes or gently applying the brakes?

If applying gently the blended regen should come in first before physical braking occurs. If hitting them that, in my mind , sounds like an emergency stop so can you confirm which it is?

You asked in your OP:

and I answered that question. :)
... no worries, i do find that i do do a fair bit of single back lane driving (sub. 40kmh), and need to stop pretty sharpish when another car comes along, and i do find that the abs is kicking in on the rears a bit too soon - we have a bit of icy (/UK leaves) weather coming - which could be interesting :cry:!
