MG4 Software Update Thread

From what I’ve seen on the French site MG said no more updates full stop
That would seem a strange stance to take even for MG, I can understand the one pedal driving but not other updates.
In saying that I am sure most owners would be quite happy with no further updates if the software got to the stage where everything was stable and the safety systems were actually all safe.

I know if it was me I'd happily stop at that and not want anyone messing around with it anymore.

I'm not keen on having any more updates on my early Trophy. LKA remains off all the time (even after an update for that), the radio works, sat nav works, and I've only ever paired my phone once when I took delivery last October. Mostly everything just works.

It's not perfect. I have a constant warning about the drowsiness sensor since it stopped working months ago (mine has the camera thing on the steering column), and I'd quite like that cleared even though it was actually a blessing when it went wrong as it stopped the car constantly telling me to pay attention! And scheduled charging occasionally has a mind of its own and starts up early. Other than that, it is fine. It even somehow managed to cure itself of the Android auto 'pre production software' message that used to appear. That no longer shows even though I've had no updates for it! No idea how but I'm not complaining.

Agreed - I think there have been lots of debates because some are saying no updates at all.

I have no expectation at all that one-pedal driving would be enabled on the older models as it makes no sense to. If people want it they upgrade, but I would expect all the bugs that are still there i.e. bluetooth, nav hanging, etc to be fixed.

Just got mine updated today to latest SW rev. and so far (touch wood) seems improvement.
Background - just got my Trophy (called Exclusive in Ireland) a week ago, it's 2nd ver (18" wheels, rear wiper, etc), and generally very happy with it, bar the few SW niggles i.e; Bluetooth pairing issues, snappy LKA, touchscreen laggy and (one I haven't seen mentioned previously) no online connectivity for iSmart/weather updates/nav. Car came with R33 installed, dealer today installed R46, said he'd just got it a few days ago and it should/might sort some of my issues (I'm hoping I'm not guinea pig as haven't seen any mention of others with this latest rev. He mentioned the R40 seemed short lived, so possibly buggy)
Good news is connectivity immediately sorted for iSmart etc, phone also paired ok and so far hasn't needed re-pairing (prev needed to, every time I got into car), don't notice any change to LKA or laggy screen unfortunately, but the BT and iSmart were my main bugbears. Additionally it has the newer AC page (and although the graphics do look like they were done by a 12 yo, it seems to work fine, and defo easier to hit correct button while driving due to their size), also notice slight tweaks to battery management page, overall so far seems improvement, will see in coming days if any negatives side affects with the new rev.
One other point, for update he didn't connect via laptop to SAIC server, just had newest rev on USB dongle, installed in a few minutes, perhaps maybe didn't need to confirm ver as car so new.
With the new AC page: is the temperature scale recalibrate/adjusted?
(25 celsius temp. setting feels like 20 celsius)

Indeed, this is already the case for me (stable and safe for what I use), so I am thinking I don't really want any updates just in case it goes backwards.

On Facebook group someone also has had the R46 applied to a a ver1 ‘22 car so it does look like it will apply to all. The feature toggles like track mode etc are obviously controlled separately

Ours is in for fixes in a few weeks so will see what happens
Curious which FB group it is? Would like to see the post

I don't even really care about the bluetooth bug! I just want reliable android auto voice input... Did have it working for a few weeks but it's gone back to only working when stationary (which is pretty much pointless) maybe R46 solves that over R33....?

Turn of "Hello MG" in the settings to disable the MG voice control. That's worked for me on R33.

Haven't chance to fully check it, but my first impression is unfortunately No

Are there any improvements in the user interface?
Other than the more functional (albeit worse looking) AC page, and selectable wheel shortcut buttons now have list available to either side, I haven't noticed anything else

I have agreed on a brand new Trophy and will be making sure it is fully updated, so should be able to confirm the latest versions next weekend.

You will only be able to see the infotainment version, unfortunately you won't know what updates you have for all the other modules, it won't be the first time the a dealer has told a customer there car is fully updated when it quite clearly wasn't.
Importance of a good dealer

Really? Other than behavior of the car are we not able to look up the current firmware for anything other than the infotainment system??
