MG4 Software Update Thread

Hi all,

My Trophy is on R23 and I have the Bluetooth pairing issue and AC needs setting about 5deg higher than the temperature I want.

I believe this is fixed on newer software updates.

I've got it booked in with a dealer and I've asked for it to be updated under warranty, is there anything official from MG about the above issues that I can use if the dealer gets funny?
Let us know how you get on with this!

I'm looking at a second hand MG4 at the moment, will ring up local dealer. Anyone know what happens in regards to transfer of warranty or ownership, do I need to do anything in particular? Does resetting car under system settings revert any updates or all okay to do that?

How can I check what the latest software updates for my car would be, is there any easy way for this aside from latest comments in here? It's a 22 trophy model.

Just got off the dealer for a regular checkup; i've insisted on them updating the complete car (even bitched about infotainment) and yet i'm still on R33 on SE. Is there any ill effect if i update it manually at home or could i break something (like functions not working). Running MCU 69.1.0.9

One change I noticed with 1100R38 was that the HVAC temperature scale has been adjusted to a more normal range ... whether this also needs the HVAC module update (done at the same time for me) for it to work properly I don't know.

Note: with 1100R38 you lose the ability to drag down the quick menu when AA/CP is on screen.

No dealbreakers for me honestly... I'll likely either wait till next year for the next service and insist then or do it myself with VNCI. It's a pricey tool, but useful.

Picking up my car on Saturday and then off to dealer to do updates. What's the easiest way to know what updates to ask for so I don't miss anything please?

Also, I've seen in some reviews mention that in android auto the status bar at the top is persistent instead of hiding like the car did at launch. Is this still an issue?

Why don't you drive the car for a couple of thousand kms to see if it has any actual 'issues' before you start chasing updates? If it's stable, leave it that way - and that's coming from a software designer and developer.

It's not an issue - not in my mind anyway as I don't watch movies in the car. With GMaps etc. I really don't miss the slightly reduced vertical height.

I mean it has a recall on it that they say needs to be done, so it's going to be updated either way.

Maybe so they don't have to mess around arguing with the dealers, wasting their time taking the car in and out multiple times, and being without and car whilst they "fix" cough break it further. The car should be brought up to date from the day of purchase, it's MG's fault they have all these cars sitting in fields for years, not ours the paying customer!

I am furious of all the issues that clearly would have been resolved on a 1.5 month old car because the dealers are too lazy / or MG to cheap to give a cack.

Mine runs without any issues and it's probably 2-3 'versions' away from the 'latest' releases. Not going to update mine unless I have any issues, that's good standard practice in the software industry unless a release in use is about to be dropped from support.

Chasing the 'latest' or 'highest' numbered version simply leads to problems if the level in use is working without any major issues.

Well it's not good practice for cars, and as a car is closed system comparing to an OS or software designed for thousands or more variations in hardware isn't comparable.

The car's software should be on the latest version as that's how the world works for all "decent" manufacturers who ensure this happens as part of their service, and of course on a cars handover when new.

For the few of us , " inbetweenies" with SR,LR models we understand that the infotainment upgrades will be standard range compatible. But for the running gear , CCU etc we should expect upgrades compatible with the Trophy.? I comment because the associated workshop at my dealership seems to think " spoilers.... Trophy , no spoilers..... SR. "
2nd service coming up so there will be a row of post it notes in the centre of the steering wheel.!!!
