MG4 Software Update Thread

Hello, I updated my MG4 trophy from R40 to R59, one of the updates failed and now the car is showing alerts for all the systems in the dash screen. Later I was able to install R59 and now the infotainment system is showing the R59 firmware, but I still have all the alerts. I tried to reprograme all the modules using SIPS, but didn't solve the problem. Can someone help me?
Maybe with VDS I could do something, but I don't know why when I try to install it, it says "netsh firewall is obsolete" and won't finish the install

Recently had the R63 update to adjust AC/heating wild variations and now having severe bluetooth phone connectivity. Is this a common fault with anyone else who has had the update done.

R46 was indeed more stable.
But it depends on the definition of severe. After R63, AA via cable sometimes does not show up. It may be a sequence issue cause reconnecting the cable helped.
And after switching to the MG infotainment sometimes AA does not reappear (greyed out).
I did all of sudden have issues with the BT connection with my phone. I had to reinstall it twice. But since then all remained fine.

Updated to R63 from R30 and like most of the changes, only one I hate is the status bar remaining whilst in Android Auto mode. No idea why they thought that was a good idea? Looked so much better before. Almost makes me want to figure out how to code it to disappear.

Look at the left end of the status bar.
See that headlight symbol?
That's the only way to turn your fog lights on and off.

Things have gotten pretty quiet around here lately when it comes to MG4 updates. Do you guys think there’ll be any new versions after R38 or R63? I’m still holding out hope that the firmware from the newer MG4 models will eventually be released and work with older ones like mine. One feature I’d really like is the ability to keep One Pedal Mode permanently enabled – even after a system reboot or regardless of battery state.

R40 has been released for SE, (RTM on 02 april 2025) but the differences compared to R38 are minimal. I can’t tell whether this release is meant for public distribution though.

Since the SC077 service action, there have been very few updates (I’m talking about ECU updates here, not infotainment upgrades.)

All of this makes me think that our cars are now becoming legacy, and have entered an extended support phase.

Unfortunately, I have that feeling too. To be fair, once you've installed all the updates, the car is more or less error-free.

If the car is 'error-free' why the need for more 'updates'?
It would be more in the realm of feature updates than bug fixes ... e.g. adding the Driver Preferences (or whatever it is called) that the MGS5 has introduced. Likely to happen? Probably not, but we can always hope. :)

This car is only error free if all components are installed correctly and systems are properly calibrated. The large number of variables in place here easily leads to the conclusion that the MG4 is not error free.
Apart from that, it still does not comply with EU regulations.

At MG, 30°C is cold

The only visible difference I’ve noticed so far is the addition of Turkish as a language option.

I know there was a separate version of R38 for Turkey. So it seems to be now integrated into the mainstream release.
I live in Turkey and I was eagerly waiting for the Turkish version. The current version says R59. Is this version you mentioned valid for Luxury models?

Unfortunately, this version is made for SE/Standard models.
Not Trophy/Luxury.

To date, the latest version to date for your car is R63, I don’t know if turkish language is included, however.
