MG4 Software Update Thread

I tried R59 and then R63 for a few months. It took a bit of tweaking to get everything working—maps and weather included. (You can look back on this threads around pages 210/230)

But in the end, I reverted to the stock software, as I found out I was not using the integrated navigation that much.
Do you recall when using this if it displayed the song being played in the drivers screen, like the Trophy model does?

No, the firmware controlling the driver’s display is the IPK (instrument pack), so updating the FICM (the infotainment system) will not change what is shown on the IPK.

Hello! I have an MG4 Luxury purchased in July 2024, it has the R30 version. Which current version do I get?

What's the problem with the car?
In principle, there's no problem. Sometimes, perhaps, the phone's Bluetooth doesn't sync, and you have to erase the device and search again. The problem is that at my shop, I know they updated the modules, but the infotainment system is on that version, and I don't know if that could be the problem.

Well, just mention to your dealer that the bluetooth connection sometimes disconnects and they should update that particular related module and nothing else. No point in chasing higher 'numbers' if your car is basically fault free.

The infotainment system is easy to update yourself, many including me have updated their own.

What's the full version number? The key bit is the numbers after SWI ... these will tell us the base software version for your car. (The Rxx bit can be misleading as it exists in both base versions but they are very different).

Guys with SWI68-29958-1300R67, could you please take a look and answer whether this version has Ukrainian language support for UI in Infotainment?

Current versions are
SWI68-29958-1300R67
and
SWI69-29958-1100R40

If your car is a luxury (aka trophy in the UK) model, it’s R67
Correct ... but @malolo666's car may be a MY24 car, so SWI131 or SWI132. Hence my request for the full model number. :)

Just FYI, for those updating from R33 (SE/Standard) and have sideloaded apps; after update, the apps and everything stays as is (update doesn't seem to reset anything).

Helpful for those who want to retain that option; because from the newer versions the keyboard trick doesn't work anymore.

Hello,

I have an MG4 Standard SE. The service previously converted my car’s software to the Lux package version. Now, I can’t install the Standard SE software anymore. I want to load R40, but the USB is not being recognized. Is there anyone who can help with this?

Which release are you on (I mean the full release, for example SWI68-29958-1300R59) and what is your car’s model year?

Sounds your car is running a factory version. I can’t tell for sure because I haven’t tinkered on these 😂

Your best bet is to have your dealer perform the upgrade.
They also can’t revert it back to the SE model software. When I try to install R40 via USB, I can’t do that either.

I think they installed MY2024 Luxury build on your MY2023, that's why you can't go back to R40 build cause it's for MY2023 but your software think it's not suitable.

I saw that on a MY2023 XPOWER upgraded to MY2024 build. The owner had some troubles to use the car because the software aren't exactly the same (MG Pilot, TBOX...)

I suggest he asks for an infotainment software SWAP, and I think you'll be stuck until they find a way, or that you swap your system...
