MG4 Software Update Thread

My car (a Trophy) is currently on R59.

Is there anything that R67 does that is truly worth having over R59?

I've tended to leave it alone as mostly working, but there are some niggles so I am wondering about pushing for them to be fixed by an update.

Thanks in advance.

I was under the impression that SC077 would be done automatically as part of the cars next service. Is it something that has to be requested as a separate update as the wording of your post seems to suggest. Its booked in for next Monday and I was expecting it to be done then. They have the possibility of keeping it all afternoon , but I was not expecting it to be that long. Better take sarnies!
"SC" is short for "service campaign"
It's a level or two down from an official recall, and to the dealerships it means "Do this when you next have the car in".

The reason they said "all afternoon" is that the software updates can take an hour or so on their own. The extra time is for if they fail and the tech has to start over.

Luckily, my local dealer is just off a retail park with a large number of restaurants & fast food options. ;)

TL;DR - if your dealer doesn't mention it when you're booking in, then ask about it just to remind them.

Plus the dealers only have a certain number of laptops with the right software on them and 12V booster stations, so can only do updates on so many cars at once. My local dealer has 2 laptops with the software, so two cars max. can be doing updates at a time - and while they being done, they still occupy space in the shop so other vehicles cannot be worked on.

(It would make a lot of sense economically for MG to move to OTA updates and/or a system that could be done just sitting in the car without external power / tools).

Could some of the lucky new owners please upload a screenshot of their software version screen along with the car model? Thank you.
We have just had our MG4 trophy 2024 updated to R63 ( infotainment now on R67 ). All went well with time being the only bugbear, as in how long it takes. Car seems to drive more smoothly and the gom tells us we have gained nearly 30 miles of range at 100%. Time will tell. I'll update about any more changes we find as we drive it more over the coming days... Quite a few of the display pages have been updated like the charging page

The GOM increase is probably because a software update caused the Accumulated Total trip meter to reset - this generally causes the GOM to revert to (near-enough) the WLTP range value.

it’s mainly about correcting bugs, such as Bluetooth pairing issues and some cosmetic slight improvements.

It’s not a massive improvement, but since it’s more than 1 year ahead in terms of development, you should go for it. Be sure to have MCU, MPU and TBox updated, though.

Have been away for a few months, and about to return to the MG4 and its 1st service ;)
It is a 51kWh MG4 SE SR, picked up May 2024. I think there were changes in MY23 e.g. rear wiper which it has.
The MPU Software is SW169-29958-1100R33 - I think I saw late 2024 this thread said there was a R38 update, and I think I now see R40 (?)
The MCU Software is 69.3.8.0 - again I think I saw here late 2024 there is now 69.4.4.0.

Any updates to my knowledge welcome, what I might expect / could ask for at the service, and what they will offer. Apologies for the dumb questions - I was on top of these issues :(
I have the same model. Installing R38 or R40 only makes sense if you also update the HVAC and FICM modules via SIPS. It improves temperature control for the A/C, but you’ll lose the pull-down menu in CarPlay and Android Auto.
Thanks @Geekice - sorry for late reply.

They told me it required a LKA update and that's the only software update they applied. I have noted:
  1. LKA is much better / less obtrusive and now left on.
  2. The cruise control now has much more logical blip = 1mph changes, long press 5mph.
  3. [edit] Long Press enables ACC <> TJA swap
Still R33 / 69.3.8.0 so seems it was one (or more?) sub-modules updated. Anything else likely to have changed?

1100R38 needs to be associated with an HVAC module update, as R38 rescales the target temperature control. See my 1100R38 thread for full details, as R38 also prevents the pulldown menu when Android Auto / Apple CarPlay are operating. But if you've had the SC077 LKA update then this probably doesn't matter.

I've no idea what 1100R40 offers.

I've been gone a while, work has been stressful
Anyway I see people have managed to get SWI69 R40
I've also added this along with MY24
SWI132 R43
SWI133 R36

Unfortunately still struggle to get SWI68 so no R67 yet

hello, thanks all folks here. yesterday i installed R40 on my SE 51kwh (called standard here in europe) - i didnt feel like visiting dealer again. i immediately noticed, top statusbar is slightly thicker, time / radio name / rear foglight toggler is bigger or optically appears bigger. but maily, when you pull down menu to turn off laneassist, its now finnaly possible to actually pull it back up by pulling finger from bottom. before it was very tricky - but could be done by pressing home button. i personally dont understand why they restricted pulldown in carplay ...

One last question, because for SE instructions wasn't 100% clear. i entered menu via keypad, updated only AVN. is this enough ? I had done full update of car by dealer in april to R38 including HVAC correction and ACC to 1kmh increments and every other car control unit.

thanks

Hello,

I have an MG4 Luxury model vehicle. In Turkey, there is currently a special version developed for Turkey with the code DBI68-29558-1X00RXX-20250530. Tbox SNMKP04T3E,FICM MCU 68.4.8.0 The Tbox has been replaced in our vehicles, but we cannot actively use it yet. An agreement has been made with Vodafone for 4G connectivity, and we are waiting for the contract. At the moment, in the current version, the driver display is not in Turkish, and the navigation language option is not available in Turkish, but the central infotainment screen is in Turkish for now.

Does the R67 version include the Turkish language option?

If your MG4 display DBIXXXXXXX, I can tell for sure you got a 2022 or 2023 model year, but they installed a wrong build on it. I saw the same thing with a 2023 XPOWER where dealer installed 2024 update build.
Since last year, the car is stuck with this firmware, impossible to install 2022/2023 build (not supported) and TBOX isn't working. Dealer swapped TBOX but still no data in car.
Owner still waiting for infotainment swap to fix this messed up!

Hi,

You also need to update the MCU, using the same R40 package. (AVN-VIP)

Hello, first of all, thank you very much for your response. In Turkey, there is an institution called BTK. Since the factory-installed T-box in the vehicles was not registered within the required period for remote access, both the IMEI and vehicle information had to be changed, and the devices were replaced. An agreement was made with Vodafone in Turkey, and the eSIM numbers here were registered specifically to the vehicle VIN number by replacing the T-box. Currently, this version is installed on all luxury models, and while it works actively on some vehicles for testing purposes, on others, after the T-box replacement, there is no data line and no contracts have been made yet, so we cannot connect to the vehicles remotely.

I have heard about the R67 version, but as far as I know, it is not yet available for download. In Turkey, the Comfort models are running the R39 version, while the Luxury models are loaded with the version I mentioned. In fact, the driver information display does not switch to English, but the infotainment screen is in Turkish, and there is no navigation menu. Instead, a climate control screen from the Comfort models has appeared. When we want to use navigation, we have to activate it by saying “open navigation” via voice command.

What’s interesting is that although the navigation menu already existed, in this new version, the climate control menu was added instead, and remote access was not enabled either… I am having many problems with this brand of car, and the dealers don’t know anything. Imagine, it’s a 2023 model car, and even though it’s 2025, in Turkey we still have a wrong, nonsensical version with poor Turkish language support. No matter which language we select in the driver display or infotainment screen menu, it stays the same. Only the infotainment screen switches to Turkish, but the driver display does not change. Also, the navigation menu is missing, replaced by the climate menu, and we are forced to activate navigation via voice commands. They clearly don’t know what they’re doing, and we’re trying to use our cars under this messy setup…

And you don't have Turkish in the navi either?
How does it sound when the English lady tries to pronounce Turkish streetnames ? Nice?

Same here in NL and Belgium (dutch speeking part) ......

Yes, the navigation language is in English. Even though I select Turkish from the infotainment screen, when I activate voice navigation it works, but the menu only shows the climate control. In the previous R59 version, navigation was integrated into the screen, but unfortunately in the current XX version, it is not available.

The Turkey map is available in the navigation, but when we enter an address, the guidance voice comes out in English. What I don’t understand is this: when I select another language from the infotainment screen (for example, German), both the driver information display and the infotainment screen switch to that language, including the navigation. However, when I select Turkish, the driver information display remains in English, the infotainment screen turns into Turkish, but the navigation stays in English (or another selected language).

Since we bought the car, the iSmart T-Box device was removed from the glovebox and replaced with a new one. A Vodafone data line agreement was made, and for a while some users had it active, but later it was deactivated again. Most likely, a new contract will be made, but this whole situation has made me regret buying the car.

There are also constant trim noises in the car, hub issues, rattling sounds from the rear axle during take-off, a fault with the rear bumper radar sensor, and vibrations in the steering wheel. Even though we had the wheels balanced, the vibrations are still present.

It is very frustrating that the navigation guidance voice is in English, that there is no dedicated navigation section on the screen, and that iSmart is not active.

Hearing the English female voice is not a big problem – it is still understandable – but the fact that these features are incomplete in a car that is officially sold in Turkey has left me with a negative impression of the brand.
