MG4 Software Update Thread

The MG4 EV R69 software update primarily focused on refining existing features and fixing bugs, enhancing the iSMART connectivity, improving Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keep Assist (LKA), adding a persistent status bar to the touchscreen, and fixing a start-up delay, aiming to make driving smoother and more reliable, though it's a typical bug-fix update rather than a major redesign.

What are your sources please?
FICM MPU never enhance ECU like ACC or LKA.
Persistant bar was release in 2023 with R46 ans AEB and FCW were fixed in 2024.

For me, it's only few cosmetics fixes or few infotainment improvement.

But wouldn't that be update to several modules. The MCU update will never change ACC and LKA or am I wrong?

Hello,

I have a question I wanted to ask. In the R69 version, there is only one zip file, and inside it, there is no MCU file… In the R42 version, there is an MCU version. Will this version work on the luxury R69? What I mean is, the vipimage and md5_check files—normally, these shouldn’t be in the comfort, that is, SE model, right? I think these are files that should only be in the Luxury/Trophy model, aren’t they?
 
I don't think ChatGPT is the best source for getting infos about SIPS Updates 😂. In my case it gave a lot of false information and wasn't helpful at all. But just my two cents...

@serkancelenk I checked the R69 file. As I mentioned before, I’m using the Standard version, and it immediately stood out to me that things work differently here. However, the included instructions are very helpful: first, you perform the avn_mpu update. Please make sure to set up the folder structure on the USB stick exactly as described in the instructions. Then—this is highlighted in yellow in the last sentence—you run the u_disk_upgrade_SOC. Finally, you still need to perform the SIPS update: it states that you need the configuration with the number 11831934.”

Thank you again for the information. Yes, I first created the AVN_MPU folder and put the zip file into the USB as described in the guide. Then I followed the steps in the PDF instructions and installed the version — no problems up to this point.

As you also mentioned, it seems the SIPS update needs to be done (configuration number 11831934, I believe). The installation itself went without issues, but when I turned the vehicle off and then started it again a few hours later in Ready mode, the screen started turning off and on repeatedly every 1 second or so.

I think this on/off cycling is caused by the SIPS. I reset it to factory settings for now and the screen is no longer flickering/cycling. However, I need to get the SIPS update done as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the service center isn’t being helpful at all with these kinds of issues…
 
@serkancelenk I understand the matter now 🤓: Update done without SIPS. Okay, you've done the first + second part. The on/off thing sounds strange for me. When I had R42 installed, the infotainment system didn't behave like that. But if a soft reset solved the problem, that sounds good.

Maybe it's caused by 'old' SIPS files (programming and configuration, there are OS files, too).

It would be best if you're going to make an update appointment via SIPS with your MG car dealer as soon as possible because it's missing now and nobody knows what other problems will appear.
 
Anyone else here with a Standard MY22 and R42?

This is my proof that R42 is not compatible with Standard MY22. I have a mismatch with 'Operating Software'. I've even tried 'replacement' with routine but it doesn't help:
