MG4 Software Update Thread

I wanted to let you know, I couldn't resist and this afternoon I went out for a 25km route I know well, with good painted lines and signs, just to see how the car recognizes traffic signs and handles the traffic.
The first thing I noticed was a much faster startup on the screens, and the lane keeping assist was much smoother than before.
The biggest improvement is the "TBox," which I was dreading, and I never lost signal or the SOS function. On that same route, I would have lost it two or three times before.
The iSmart app also seems to work much better, before, it was awful trying to wake the car up.
A great achievement, it feels like a completely different car... Thanks, guys.
 
My Xpower was upgraded to R67 last December on recommendation of my dealer. Charging slider works as it did before, no issues. Your dealer has access to SIPS, so updating to R59+ shouldn't be a problem for them unless you didn't have any issues, so no update recommended by the dealer?
No, they seem to have stopped doing infotainment updates unless the customer makes a big fuss. I get why, it takes a lot of time and they aren't paid for it. I didn't bother bringing it up this time as it basically works.
 
@JanS Keep attention ⚠️. You're software is for South America. Look at the end... "_SA".

Yes I'm located in Chile. Would I have to apply a different update? Are these recommended?

When you say CarPlay, are you referring to a Carlinkit device or a smartphone?
If it's a Carlinkit, there's a delay in the settings so it starts shortly after the vehicle; if so, it's usually set to around 16 or 18 seconds.

Weird, sometimes when driving off it won't recognize the phone that just got plugged in, I'll have to unplug and replug.

Also reading through the thread, I do have an issue that when I set A/C to 23-24 degrees on auto, it blasts cold air as if I had it on -15°.

Reading the last 30 pages has only confused me though, I have no idea what if any updates I can apply nor where to find them. Dealers here are being super unhelpful and insisting that there are no updates to be done (patently untrue). Also the other day I'm pretty sure the automatic braking failed hard on ACC, I had to emergency step on my brakes, hard, it didn't bother to slow down when there was suddenly standstill traffic ahead.

Is this some magical custom version? That would fix my main UI annoyance which is reaching the AC in the first place. (Tucked away 3 menus deep basically.)

@JanS You have to look for SWI69 Versions that are specifically for South America. I didn't found a version that fits in halloweenhamster's Google Drive.

The second aspect is the USB flash doesn't resolve your HVAC problem. You need SIPS updates, too. And they are more important than the USB flash.

You can find a guide here how to flash or use Google Translate to read this guide in Spanish.

Is it mandatory to keep it with software versions for my particular region? Seems like a reason to return the car if the dealers are not being helpful. What would the most up-to-date versions be without the _SA suffix?

Actually, yes they do offer free software updates. I received a call to come a couple of weeks before my 1st service for the R67 update. I never even mentioned software when I booked the service a couple of months ago. Not in the UK but it's still MG.

MG Cyprus are obviously more customer-focused than MG UK. :) They both have the same MG branding but they're entirely separate entities with their own rule-sets. MG Cyprus likely follow what MG EU say .. MG UK do their own thing.

One more question: A friend in my area owns an MG4 Luxury that he bought used/second-hand. With his remote key, he can open and close the windows from a distance, but this feature isn’t present on our cars. Any idea how he might have managed this? Are there people who know about this subject? I’d be really grateful if you could help… Thank you!”

Hello to all it's been horrible with my dealership saying they don't have the recent software last month they were like the current is r64 then today by magic they updated to R67 and I told them look R71 is the most updated one or the R69 why don't you install it and they say we put the bin and nothing shows up, I think they're lying to me what are the reasons for them not to push the software or what are they might be doing wrong of why they can't see it if what they're saying it's true

VDS is very slow to start, I experience waits of minutes. Then it starts and works.

If I remember correctly, each dealer have an access to MG CARE to download updates for every car (except new one which is different). And the availability isn't the same for all dealer, I don't know why (maybe they have to follow a course first, or do something).

My dealer get access to R67 after seven months, only this January.

As others have mentioned, the VDS is slow to start.
I was interested in the window system a while back and researched it until I found a company that managed it through an app and OBD; the device was expensive.
I suppose it doesn't come standard, in case it cuts off someone's head :unsure:
 
A question/curious thing has come up for me after my update.
On the MG website, using "company" credentials, the updates, updated versions, and dates are displayed.
I've been looking and I only see the maintenance records for the services performed by the workshop.
