Hi all
has anyone had a problem with their boot door not staying in the open position .I presume it is the struts/dampers faulty.

I find as time goes by that my boot door is getting slower to open*, that's a sign that the pistons are failing. These gas pistons fail quite commonly (in general not just on the MG) and should be easy enough to buy yourself. Info on what type will be printed in the side of it.

* My boot door is opened a lot through a day.

Surely this is a warranty item - they shouldn't fail in normal use? I don't understand why saloon cars use torsion bars to open the boot lid yet hatches use struts. I get that hatches are heavier but that seems further reason to utilise springs.
