Miles/kWh

I get 500+ km around town easily, Normal mode, regen 3 and A/C on always. Average around 15kWh per 100 km.

Highway figures much more dependent on road conditions, speed etc.

High quality roads with plenty of traffic going in the same direction at 110kph, around 17-18kWh per 100 km.

Average road with no other traffic at 110 can easily hit 21-22kWh per 100.

You get used to "knowing" what sort of energy consumption you're going to get.

I have a couple of 400km+ trips coming up. Will see what sort of economy can be achieved.

Hope to get it close to or under 11kWh/100km (5.6 mi/kWh).

Unless I am in a hurry on a trip I normally drive under the limit. The drag has an inverse square relationship so dropping the speed just a bit lowers energy consumption by a lot.

In my old car I could get 3.8l/100km from a Mazda 3, way under the published figure.

Wow, you are good! I could get 4 in our Mazda2

Be interesting if you can shed some light on effects of regen level, driving modes and cruise control.
I have a feeling you are correct and speed is the major factor.

You'd be doing well to achieve that in the city. No chance on free/highways unless, as Decrep says, you're going downhill.

Last time I made this trip it was about 11ish. That was in Eco Mode and keeping it at about 85kph, not using the brake by anticipating when slowing was required.

More in tune with the car now, but the A/C will be used more in this heat. There is a free charger at a local eatery, so will use that to top up.

It is what the ACC is for. On that trip it takes about 15 min longer each way but uses way less fuel energy. A lot if the trip is along 2/3 lane roads. I do keep the same speed during the winding roads closer to home too. The 40kph advisory corner speed is just that, advisory. That is the fun bit. speed in a straight line is a bit boring.

The Xmas traffic was a bit more than usually occurs on this route. Using the ACC meant that people would whip into the gap I had in front. This meant the car would decelerate before resuming. There was also a few sections of slow moving traffic and other places where staying at a lower speed would impede the flow. There were also wet roads in some places. All combined my economy on the whole trip was 13.8 kWh/100km (4.5 mi/kWh) which was not as good as the goal.

I prefer not using ACC, I think I can get better consumption without it.
As you say, it slows and starts unnecessarily, it will do this on hills even if there's no traffic.
Accelerate up hill brake on the way down, what a waste of energy.

I used to use it in the Mazda but when it was going down hill I would turn it off and let it coast until it returned to the target speed. In the MG turning it off does not have the same effect. I may try seeing if I can switch to neutral but it's not as easy in this pseudo auto box set up (my least favourite feature of ALL EV's)

pseudo auto box set up
I think you have a wrong perspective here. it's not trying to be an auto, even though it's listed as an auto. It is what it is, no gears! It's not an auto, because there are no gears to change.
It's one of the things I like about it. You can simulate neutral though, adjust the right pedal so the power meter reads 0, then you are just coasting.
My beef with ACC going up hill, is keeping up speed near the crest, some ICE cars I had even changed down accelerated, then braked over the crest. Much more efficient to maintain constant power, let it slow enough to recover cruising speed near the bottom of the hill.

I agree it’s not an Auto. Does not have gears, not even a reverse gear. I have never bought an Auto car and have only occasionally (reluctantly) driven them.

The letters they use mimic those in Auto boxes.
I could drive it manually but find the ACC is often easier, especially since the software upgrade. The problem is I tend to speed up when doing that and going at 100-110 is far worse for the economy.

Have to agree with you there, the car just wants to go. Takes a bit of concentration to hold a lower speed. The lack of exhaust sound doesn't help, there's very little sense of speed
