New MG4 Trophy LR or Used Model 3 SR LFP

So the title says it all really.

I have the possibility to purchase a Model 3 SR LFP for the same price as a new MG4, which has a similar/slightly longer range than the Trophy LR.

Just wondered what people would choose if the two were the same price?

According to EV Database they are both within 5-10 miles of each other. And yes, has all the cameras.

This is key, considering Tesla's has 4 yrs/50k warranty. I personally would prefer to have a new car with a full warranty especially since once is available for the price of the MG trophy, I did loved Teslas actually put deposit down on a Model S twice pre-covid but was messed about and I cancelled after 2 months.

I ll take my chances with the MG with full warranty.

compare the tesla "buyers checklist" to the MG4 one. I had a deposit down for a Tesla and the mg4 swung me over . Its a very personal choice tbh but I'd focus on examining that specific tesla comprehensively - That will inform your decision.

I've owned a Tesla model S before and I'd say it is still the best EV available. I just didn't trust it's reliability as it got to 5 years old and if anything did go wrong it would be very expensive. The Model 3 is a bit different but if you can get one with a warranty go for it, you will never buy an ICE again and they don't depreciate much.

My view is that the secondhand Tesla bubble will burst soon with significant drops in values as the early batches of user chooser company cars come onto the market outside of the warranty. IMHO they are not a car to own without a bullet-proof warranty, as whilst reliable, repair costs are huge.

On Autotrader the cheapest Model 3 with less than 30,000 miles is £34k. So this opportunity OP is getting is not the market norm.

Be very careful with 3rd party warranties - nearly everything that goes wrong will be classed as 'wear and tear' and they will try and avoid paying out.

I agree you need one with a warranty and they are starting to drop more than they did, at launch they were loosing 3% per year. My point on depreciation is you can buy one and have it for a short time without loosing much. We always used to keep cars for ages but now change frequently as the cost is minimal with used car prices holding well. This may change if new car deliveries ever pick up again (DYOR)

For a new car, I’d buy the Tesla, but of course you can’t get a new Tesla at the same price as the MG4, they are in different segments.

Second hand, Teslas are a good buy but you normally pay a hefty premium because everyone wants one. And then it is second hand.

For me, I am in the market for good value and so I have an MG4 on order.

Ahh, the new paradigm of car values not falling significantly. Or is it a bubble?

Again it's interesting that MG don't do an SR Trophy - it would be a more direct comparison to the Tesla.
