MG4
Morning folks, allow me to introduce myself, I'm Dave a new MG 4 owner.
I picked my 23 plate MG 4 trophy up last Saturday 15th Nov after having done a TON of due diligence etc and overall am very pleased with it.
I'm not new to EV's having driven a lease Polestar 2 for 3 years, however this is coming to and end and I am moving employment hence it has to go back.
The MG4 fits my requirements and budget nicely hence the purchase.
Couple of issues I have noted,
1. irritating TPM warnings although the tyres are spot on pressure wise.
2. an SOS call warning repeatedly appears on the driving screen, at first amber then red.
3. driving recently, passed a pelican crossing with a person stood by the lights on the footpath waiting for them to change when the car decided I should sit closer to the windscreen and braked sharply, unexpectedly and without warning.

The first two issues feel like software glitches, however the third feels like the car is being oversensitive.
Has anyone else had this happen and is there a way of reducing the risk of it happening again?

From the dealer purchase I'm being offered a service package at £22.00 per month all inclusive. is this worth it?

lastly software updates, I am led to believe that at service time these are payable in addition to the service itself, is this correct? Polestar did OTA updates without issues wheras MG need you to attend a dealership. Doesn't make sense to me.
Anyhow here's to a good MG$ experience.

To the forum. And congrats on your new motor. Enjoy! 🙂👍

Tyre pressure indications don't change until you've driven about 0.5 mile, so they might show as OK at first but might not actually be OK. Always worth checking/setting the pressures using a compressor and manual pressure gauge.

Yep ive been watching / monitoring that when they first appeared i went straight to the nearest air pump, spent my quid and promptly put 13pence worth of fresh air into the front N/S and O/S tyres. guess what, straight back in again after about 4 miles. Tyres fine pressure off manual pressure gauge as per what I put in.
Its a bit bad when cars have all this technology and you cant rely on the information being displayed.

1. I've run my tyres at 2.7 bar all year round (for the last 2.5 years) to avoid the low pressure warnings when it gets cold.
The car handles fine, ride is not too firm and I get even wear all round on these pressures.
2. SOS warning is a loss of signal.
3. Lower the sensitivity on the AEB (Car menu).

I also run mine a bit tighter than the recommended pressures to avoid this. And my mechanic keeps assuring me that the fact that I had three punctures crossing the Hardknott pass had nothing to do with the fact that they were at 2.8 bar at the time. Just bad luck, he says.

I have only once had an unexpected braking incident, due to the car thinking a pedestrian who had walked out from between two parked cars was going to walk in front of us. (He wasn't.) The car was only a month old at the time and it hasn't happened again in two and ahalf half years.

I’ll echo most of what’s said here, I run anywhere between 2.8 bar (cold) and 3.0 bar (warm), the car came from the dealership with 2.7 in the tyres.

And I’ve had 1 AEB that was, in hindsight, warranted as someone stepped out from behind a bus stop, had I not been distracted by the car next to me drifting into my lane, I would’ve braked for that person myself. I do get annoyed with people stepping into the road in anticipation of me going past before they cross, because I know the car may decide to drop the anchors in those situations.

The only thing I keep turned off is the rear impact warning as it triggers the hazard lights rapidly flashing even when cars go past you.
