New X-Power would get a MY22 or MY24

Hi,
Looking to buy a new X-Power.
Would you get a MY22 or MY24?
(MY24 is odd naming given the MY24's are being delivered to the showrooms any day now from what I've been told.)

MY22
- £1,884 cheaper

MY24
- Identical in every way except range up a negligible amount, no bluetooth key (which I heard is rubbish) and no auto dimming mirror (which is a sill y thing to remove given how useful they are).

Anything else I should be aware of / be concerned about?

Before someone else says it - the vibration lottery. It 'seems' the later the build, the less chance you have of having to endure it.

If you buy an MY22, you could join in with all the folks complaining about a vibration, seems that they fixed what ever the problem was in the later builds, so .... depends if you are after never ending aggravation, or you are happy to pay the extra and stand a better chance of being hassle free
Personally, I'd love to have an XPower, no matter what yr it was .... but I do enjoy breathing and remaining married, so I'll just dream about owning one and evaporating my license in no time flat

Wheel alignment, tyre balancing or a design flaw?
Is this something a dealer will / can fix?

The car will be brand new, whether it's the MY22 or MY24.

Seems like pot luck whether mine would be affected or not.

Had a Subaru WRX in 2003 and at 68-73 mph it made a noise similar to running your finger around the top of a wine glass. New prop, dampers and rear diff didn't fix it. Cost the dealer a fortune.
In the end, a better hi-fi helped mask it.

Given that they seem to be leaving out a couple of modules, for example the Bluetooth key, from the later models and the bargains that are out there, I would go with an MY22 and only buy after you test drive to see if you can detect the vibes

Wear Welding gloves for the vibes.

I think most of the bigger issues were all sorted by the time the Xpower came out, so personally I would be more concerned about the vibe rather than the year. The problem is I doubt you will get an answer from the dealer or MG as to whether the vibe has definitely been sorted on MY24 models.

Red with a massive new car discount

Next challenge is working out how I'm going to charge it. Something I neglected to consider.

I'm on Ovo Charge Anytime but the Ovo app doesn't integrate with the MG brand :-(

I use the Ovo app to charge my existing electric car (which I'll be keeping) - Ovo app communicates with the car to set timing schedules in order to secure the 7p rate and manage charge limits.
It works well for this purpose.

I use a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro.
In theory, it could manage the charging schedules but the integration between Ovo and Hypervolt is terrible and I haven't been able to get it to work.
(So, charging would be managed by the Hypervolt app - which should work with any car - rather than the Ovo app to car current set up).
I will have to try again this weekend.

The concept of electric cars isn't new, so all this mess should have been sorted a few years ago.
I suspect there are too many small companies involved who don't have the resources (£ and tech skills) to integrate with all of the energy providers, charging hardware providers and car manufacturers.
I suspect in 5 years' the tech side will be dominated by Tesla, Apple and Google - similar to the phone industry. Which should bring with it a few coding standards which everyone can work with.

Good choice! Had mine for just over 2 months and loving it more every time I get in it...

It has vibes between 64 to high 70s mph; sometimes low 80s mph depending on driving surface but is more noticeable as an additional low rumble sound over normal tyre noise than actual shaking of the steering wheel per se. There's suggestions that steering wheel dampers were initially fitted on production line before finally addressing the actual cause, so it could be mine (Nov '23 build) has that, making it more bearable - either way it's not bad enough to be a problem for me!

I have a 'dumb' 7kW wall charger left over from a plug-in-hybrid from 7yrs ago (back in the days when manufacturers/dealers gave them away with the car). Get cheap elec between 12:00-05:00am on EV dual rate tariff and use iSMART to set max charge state and on/off times - just works!

Ovo is unusual in that their 7p rate can be anytime depending on grid capacity, not a fixed time overnight like Octopus.
So, even though I mainly charge overnight, the Ovo app / servers need to communicate with the car or charger in order that the charging starts when there is a cheap rate. Otherwise it's all charged at the standard 26p rate.
I have this weekend to get it sorted.

My wife will be the main driver. She's used to a diesel, so I doubt she'll notice any vibration
