No internet

My LR Trophy connects with outside devices but has no internet for either the vehicle hotspot or any other system ie Amazon or vehicle updates. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, is there any 'easy' fix

I guess you have either used up the 1Gb data allowance or you are on R59 which has a broken WiFi hotspot

And over the air updates won’t work even if you do have internet as they’ve not been made available as of yet.

Thanks, I will have a look at the update. I doubt I have reached the allowance as it hasnt worked for about 3 months. The car has had 2 services (latest about 6 weeks ago) so it should be on latest updates

If not then the infotainment system has lost its activation.

How to reactivate the MG4 head unit.

From the main screen, swipe left to the other screen and select “settings”

On the settings screen, select “system” from the list on the right hand side.

On the system screen, tap “Entertainment system” 5 times in quick succession,

this brings up a dialogue to enter a pin number.

Enter the pin number: 200519 this opens the Engineering mode page.

On the Engineering mode screen, select “Activate” on the right hand side this brings up another page. On the list on the left change “switch environment” from “/Current PP” to “/Current P” then exit that screen. Select activate again to check that the environment is still set to “/Current P” then select Activate at the top of the list then when it confirms activation, exit.

Note: WiFi must be connected to perform the above.

Exit engineering mode and go back to the main settings page and under activation the page should show the head unit as activated (blue). You can now activate the map underneath it if you haven’t already done so.

My Vehicle Hotspot worked well until I had software update R59 installed in May 2024, then it stopped working . The main MG dealership had no idea why it had stopped working and did not want to help me get it fixed. Ten months later the problem was fixed by MG software update R63 and my local service centre.
In my opinion , MG UK Customer Service needs to be reorganised so it helps MG buyers with problems. The actual MG4 car is very good but let down by sub standard software, poor UK customer service and in my case an uninterested main MG dealership.

Update: Some days after the R63 which fixed my Vehicle Hotspot issue, it stopped working again. Great car, sub standard software...I will purchase a BYD model next time

I agree about MG customer service. Unfortunately MG isn't the only one that suffers with substandard software but their way of dealing with it is dire. And I can understand why dealers become uninterested if MG treats them the way it treats the owners.
