Does it actually work and what does it do as its never worked on my car so far just says sorry no network?

Android. It's a menu option but with nothing behind it. Whether that's because my car is an SE I'm not sure.

I've got a Trophy and the smart peripherals link in the app doesn't appear to do anything either. I wonder whether this will require a future software update in the car to work, although it is not clear what this new function is.

Latest MG iSmart software (android v1.1.8) send to have removed this item.

Confirmed, also before forcing an update from 1.1.7 to 8 Android, the red overheating messages were in the Charging Management screen but had gone post upgrade, maybe that's fixed as well?

Maybe Smart Peripherals is MG's proposed version of Alexa.
For example, you could get it to turn on your lights in the kitchen as you pull into the drive. Only knowing MG it'd turn your neighbours' lights on instead. Or turn your electric shower on. Or launch a nuke on Moscow!
