MG4
My MG4 L/R was in for 3rd service and MOT 2 weeks ago. When I checked the service report properly at home I noticed the battery state of health was hand-written in biro at what I think is 96%. I thought I would get a "proper" report not just this. I contacted the dealer and they replied "so sorry you haven't received the battery health report! I have spoken with my technician and he did explain that the MGs systems have been all over the place so the request might have been lost.Would it be possible to get your vehicle back in for me to get this done again to ensure you get the report " From this I assume there is an "actual" report of the battery cells condition etc so booked it back in today to have this carried out. I waited while they did it. I was told it would be quick. I waited one and a half hours. I've attached what I received (!)
Is it me? is this a main dealer standard of report ? Anyone else had a similar experience ? I am going to try and get some sense from MG themselves as to what I should expect and if what I have "is it" then at least they should let their staff know so they can tell customers it will be a piece of paper without any reference to your car ( reg number/VIN etc not even an MG logo) and one single piece of information....95%. ( down 1% in 2 weeks ?) Call me old-fashioned but as much as a love the car I really miss having a paper log of everything to do with the cars history, not just filed in the etha on a cloud somewhere where the person who actually owns the car can't reach ! Rant over.... interested to hear if others feel I'm being too picky.... soh battery.webp

On my MG5's I have only ever got a % on the sheet for SOH.

On my cars 3rd service (first as owner) mine was listed in pen as 96%, which is 1% down from when I purchased ( a print out of the SoC & SoH)

This is just a print off from their electronic disgnosis software with a SOH written on top.

Everything is digital these days - but MG don't provide an easy way to see your service record for customers (which is lame).

Really the iSmart app should provide a full car history and all service and warranty information, that would be a good way to do it, with then option to download a PDF to print at home.

I have had the same experience with many makes who look blankly when I ask for a printout and end up trying to print the screen from their computer.

There seems no consideration or thought in what might be convenient for the customer.

Good to see it's not just me then.. thanks for the replies.Wonder if MG ever look at the feedback we all give via this brilliant forum. Save them a fortune on customer surveys. I'll update if I get a response from MG directly.

Fantastic. In four years of ownership Vauxhall the supplying Main Dealer ( who also serviced it) never did that. Well done MG. That's proper that is.

You could say the same about people with odb2 devices
I don't know, if people like that kind of info that is fine.

But for 'normies' (a bit more like me - I'm probably in the middle of the two categories) who just drive the thing you don't want to give them something to worry about all the time.

I have never received any printout ( or seen ) of the service record for mine . MG Europe say I should contact the Dealer/ Workshop . The workshop will not show me the digital record on screen ( its their private information ) the dealer says all the history is on the I Smart app ( BS ) and then backup the workshops responses and then the loop starts again. All I have received are the workshop receipts for payment which show I've paid for a service with some items such as cabin filter added. Does show the registration number, date , but not the kilometrage . SOH is a fantasy , which will only matter if it declines towards 70% within 7 years , Then the excuse will be " you should have monitored it and brought it to our attention earlier ".
OBD readings will not be admissible unless they are official MG readings , trying to mathematically work out an approximation is proving unreliable, impossible and calculating off the range runs into the Summer/Winter , driving conditions , heater on/off debate.
Whilst the warranty details are on the face of it clear , I think when push comes to shove the dice are loaded in favour of the house.
And should you wish to sell the car , trying to provide a history to a prospective buyer is going to prove problematic unless of course you go back to the original dealership , short and curlies.
