SOH report MG4

After my 3rd service SOH reading I've decided to treat it as a guide. My service readings were 99%/100%/95%. I do fewer than 3000 miles a year and have not used a DC charger for over 2 years. We shall see in a year's time.

Had the 1st service on my MG4 Trophy ER a few months back after 20,000 km (12,500 miles) and the SOH was reported as 99% on the inspection report. I'd estimate my charging sessions have been split 50/50 between granny and DC fast-charging. Curious to see if there'll be a bigger dip in another year.

The SOH figure for my car was higher at its 3 year service 95.5 than the previous year 2 service of 92. When I asked how this can be, I was told 'it is just a figure on the day'. So I just ignored it.

Quite right. The last two services they said my battery was 93%, but to my subjective eye the car goes just as far as it did when it was new.

Anybody has an explanation?

Measuring SOH requires a controlled deep discharge and full recharge of the battery. Unless that was done then the SOH is just a number from the on board guessometer.

Agreed. SOH numbers reported by the car are pretty meaningless.

That asterisk is doing a lot of heavy lifting , or not , as the case might be.
