Squeaking sound

Hi, I have a squeaking sound on my rear suspension of my MG4. It happens when I'm reversing out of my driveway and seems to be worse when it's wet outside. Also if I bounce the rear of the car up and down it's very audible. My local mg garage say they can't fint anything wrong and also that the sound when bouncing the car is not unusual? Anybody come across this type of issue? Cheers...

Ok, how do the brakes make the sound? I was certain it must be a bushing .

Just been in for third service and first MOT at 32,000 miles and it failed the MOT on worn lower-arm bushings (both at front, one failed and one part-worn). The video evidence looks convincing.

Anyone else had a problem with these?

£250 each at my MG dealer to fix, because they replace the whole lower arm, although I believe the bushing itself is about £15 (but would need pressing into the existing lower arm assembly).

Have booked in but will also find out what the cost would be at an independent garage and if they'll just change the bushings, not the arms. Will cancel if I find a...

My rear brakes squeak very badly when reversing and the cars only 2 months old, one of the joys of using high regen and rarely having to use the actual brakes !!

You can counter that by occasionally driving along (at a reasonable speed ... 30 is OK) and then pulling up the "handbrake" switch - this puts the rear brakes on full force and helps clean up the discs and pads. (Let go before you come to a stop else you'll drop out of D mode).

I did some of this before going for my 3rd service/first MOT last November - even though they'd suggested new rear discs and pads at the 2nd service (I told them to "do one"), this time it wasn't even mentioned, and certainly wasn't an advisory. (In fact there were zero advisories).

Just use brake cleaner on the pads/calipers. I had a small squeal when reversing a few months ago, a good dousing of brake cleaner cured the problem, takes a couple of minutes
