Collected my new MG4 Trophy on the 17th and all seemed ok, but today while driving home, irrespective of the speed limit it’s stuck on telling me the speed limit is 30mph and restricts me to this. I can kick down and override it, but it then warns me of overspeed. I’ve contacted the dealer and they can’t look at it the 2nd of October. Anyone else had this?

What mode are you in according to the top of the MG Pilot page on the big screen? (Click on the Car icon on the right to access those menus). If it is in Speed Limit mode, change it so that the Driver Assist System is ACC. (I can't remember exactly what they're called, but it's the top items on the MG Pilot page).

This may be associated with the latest MG4s, mine is MY22. So I can only advise generally.

Have you tried switching off speed limit sign detection?

You could disconnect the negative terminal of the 12V battery to reset the system and then you must follow the steering wheel/windows settings procedure - see the Wiki.

You have most likely , accidentally pressed buttons which have activated the Auto speed control, is the top left hand corner of the drivers screen lit up like a Christmas tree . If it is that , then you can de activate it through the Pilot screen , and then like 99.9% of us, never touch it again. If you have not already you can download the user manual , either from MG or Mr. Siteguru . The second being most preferable as you can access loads of other relevant manuals as well. Search Box... Siteguru Manuals. ..... and some thing with links should come up. Although , I'm guessing ...give it two minuets. :)

Ok I’ll take a look at those items, I was on the second one on MG Pilot, which is Speed Limit Assist, When it did this I pulled and turned this to off, but it made no difference, it still stayed at 30. I was in a 30, which then went to 40, 60, 40, 60, but into wouldn’t move past 30.

I got back into the car and got a message that Forward Safety System was unavailable. I tried setting it to AC and it said this was also unavailable. I then set it to Speed Assist Mode. It then seemed to be ok. It must be something I did or possible a dicky connection to the front camera or radar. I’ll monitor it for a few days.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you, I don’t seem to have that icon in the top left.

Speed Limit mode on Manual is quite useful, I use it fairly often as an alternative to ACC (which is a bit twitchy and tentative) and being able to quickly and smoothly switch up and down the speed limit works well for me - plus it focuses me on better noticing limit changes.

Speed limit recognition on my XPower is completely useless. It has no concept of national speed limits, that's 90% of the roads in my area. I turn it off every time I get in the car and rely on actually knowing what the limit is (!) and Waze which is almost always right - so we know it can be done...

Since my last round of software updates, when my car sees a NSL sign it simply sets the detected speed to --- such that it doesn't try to make a distinction between single and dual carriageway sections. I find this a much better implementation. :)

I've had my Trophy over two years now and I didn't know this limiter thingy existed, not that I'd want to use it anyway.
Mine just gives a quiet beep and flashes the speed sign if I go over.
Every day is a school day. :giggle:

Jerry told me about it when I got the car, it's not my cup of tea. I've used this on previous cars, where it was simple switches on the steering wheel, but faffing around changing things on the main screen to turn off ACC and then set this to manual, is more than I need to be doing - I prefer the ACC method
