I've fitted a BlackVue dashcam in my MG Cyberster. I need a switched 12V supply to ensure it only comes on when the car powers up, otherwise it'll drain the 12V battery while parked.
I don't want cables trailing through the cabin, so I want to hard wire it, just as I've been able to on all my other cars.
I've located the fuse box in the passenger compartment thinking there would be switched supplies there I can piggyback onto, but every single fuse is live, even when the car is powered down.
Does anyone know of a suitable switched supply I can use please?

You are ahead of me as I would probably do something similar soon.

By looking at the wiring diagram your objective is to find a "KLR" power line.

Seems like there is a single relay that controls that power bus, the CR1 relay.

Which is located in the bottom right corner (R1) of the passenger fuse box.

Looking back at the wiring schematic it shows that powers the Fuse 44 (CF44).
It's the rear power socket circuit in the trunk, which I think is great candidate to leech power from since there is nothing sensitive in that circuit.

Can you confirm that the F44 is live when the car is not powered on?
Also, the concept of powered on/off it's a bit fuzzy in this car. It might be that the fuse it's energized until the car is locked (and maybe even a few mins after), but according to the schematic the KLR power bus won't have power after the car is "powered down".

Thanks inksane, you're a star!

My UK car doesn't have a fuse in F44 as that position isn't utilised. However, it still has the power feed to the centre pin.

The power to F44 does indeed switch on and off with the cars systems powering on and off. There's no delay when powering down the car either, the power goes off immediately.

My dashcam has parking mode and battery voltage protection, so I've wired it as follows:

GND - Fixed to the fuse box earth point with an M6 nut. The stud is long enough just to add this on top of the existing nut, so there's no need to disturb the factory fixture.

+ACC (switched supply) - Connected to F44 using a mini-fuse piggyback connector, which fits one half of the 3-pin socket. If yours does has a fuse in F44, you could use a Micro3 piggback connector.

+BAT (permanent 12V supply) - Connected to the socket for F17 using a mini-fuse piggyback connector. This position isn't used on my car, so the socket was empty. You'll find there's permanent 12V to all the sockets F11 to F25, so you can use any empty one, or piggyback an existing fuse.

As soon as the car powers off, the dashcam goes into parking mode and should the battery voltage drop below 12V, the dashcam will power down automatically to avoid draining the battery further.

Looks like we've solved this challenge with a nice neat & easy solution

Good idea to have a switched supply, I fitted a Viofo with permanent live, but battery isn't man enough on my MGS5.
The S5 has a switched USB-A feed to the left side of the rear view mirror, ideally placed for the dash cam, not sure if the Cyberster has one

If not try this thread..

Good luck!

Interesting, I searched for info and didn't find that thread. Seems we've both come to the same solution in terms of powering the dashcam.
