Tailgate Gas Struts

Couldn't find anything about this so thought I'd make a post myself. Has anyone noticed on Aliexpress you can buy Gas Struts for the Tailgate/boot, it makes it so pressing the button for it on the key actually opens the boot but, you still have to close it yourself. Does anyone have one of these or know if they are any good?

For £25 I might have to, just got a frunk/gas struts so got to do all that first

I’d be interesting to see if the trunk pushes itself open enough for these struts to then lift it, I don’t think the trunk moves a lot when opening it using the key fob.

I believe the key fob unlatches the boot and these springs would then push it up once that happens. there is a review claiming it works so.

Must be bloody strong springs to push that tailgate up, it's heavy.
Make sure your not near it, when it springs up.
You might finish up in A&E.
But like you say, for 25 quid, give um a go.

It's just like how the bonnet one works, only downside is apparently you need to put a bit more force into closing it.

So the springs push the tailgate up, far enough for the, struts to take over. So no touching of the tailgate at all, to open fully.
That does sound ok. Hope it works.

£25 for auto open but not auto close vs £250 for auto open and close...

So I have the gas struts but not had a chance to fit them. I do wonder if it will actually auto open these.

When I push the button on the key fob it does not seem to release the tailgate.

Can anyone who has fitted them confirm if they do auto open with fob button?

This wasn’t the reason I got them but it would be a bonus.

To release the boot catch you have to press and hold the button until you hear the click. If it does not then you have a fault.

Are you referring to the fob button or button on the tailgate itself?

Until now I have never really used the fob button.

I may have answered my own question reading again. You mean hold the fob button down until I hear the click. I will give it a go. Until now I have only given it a quick press.
