The plague is spreading folks (as predicted).
That are all getting in on the act.
Had my house insurance renewal through yesterday, it has increased by massive 80% from last year.
Totally bonkers!
We have been paying house insurance for over 40 years and never made a single claim.
Maybe that’s the problem.
Somebody is getting fat off my premiums that’s for sure.

I've just been through Compare the Market, and they have flagged up Esure Flex for £516.60 per year. It looks quite good to me. Does anyone have any negative (or indeed positive) opinions about this provider? The terms look quite good.

My new quote from Sheila's Wheels is £620.66 if paid annually. (I was forced to go to monthly payments in 2019 due to being abroad when the insurance became due, but I'm quite happy to go back to annual payments. I hadn't realised the monthly option was costing me quite as much as it is.)
From distant memory I'm sure Esure and Shelia's Wheels are both part of Halifax bank (now Lloyds). No help and possibly wrong now but interesting how the prices vary.

I moved to Sheila's Wheels some years ago because they came up top on one of these comparison sites then, and they've been absolutely fine. However, I didn't see a single quote from them on the returns this time.

Money Saving Expert came out more than the Compare The Market best quote.

However, I have business to conduct with Aviva today, and went to the site to do that. I saw their car insurance right next to the investment bond I need to do something about, and went on to that, prompted by what @tsedge said above.

It looks very competitive, although it depends on what extras I want to add to their £404 basic price. Better than my existing policy anyway.

Hmm. I lost the original quote by accident while trying to remove the foreign driving cover, as I think I probably won't go abroad this year. I think the renewed quote was about £10 more due to the few days delay. Not the end of the world.

I've been able to include protected no claims discount in that, which apparently I didn't have with my last policy. I didn't realise that, I certainly wanted it as I have 20 years worth. Fortunately however the accident that totalled Prospero was fully acknowledged to be the other guy's fault, so I've still got it.

Since my starting offer was £702.72 from my previous insurer, I call this a win.

I have just received my car insurance renewal and it has gone up by about 80%. I has heard prices were increasing. But I didn't think by so much. I have tried a price comparison site and it was even higher.
Has anyone else had this.

There's a big thread about this already - in the General board I think. :)
Ok. Thank you

Just had my car insurance renewal for the MG4 from Saga and it has gone up from £260 to £476!.
The only way I can reduce it on compare the market is by increasing the excess to £550.

Yep. Same as you 80% increase, more when compared elsewhere. According to my insurance company, EV's are more expensive to repair! I'd love to see them justify that 🤣

Probably a product of being a middle-aged woman with very low mileage requirements, but £357 from the AA (via the meerkat) for me to insure my (new-to-me) Trophy to pick up on Saturday. I'll grant you my ICE car was only £150 to insure, but it was 16 years old at the time of renewal. I'm calling £357 a good price, be interesting to see what happens when renewal comes around.

We just got a quote from Tesco to renew our car insurance at £660, it was £160 last year (not on your Nellie). Re-brokered and and got a quote from Esure at £334, half the amount that Tesco wanted. It's still an unwelcome rise of £174.

Just tried them and the came back with £853 for their lowest level of cover... £340 more than I've been quoted elsewhere... God knows what it would have been if I wasn't a clubcard member...🤣

Just renewed my MG and it's about the same price as last year. 16k miles sdp+commuting and it's £550. Did a multi-vehicle deal for £800 to cover the MG and Mustang and can bolt on my other vehicles when they come up for renewal.

Howden Insurance (not the kitchen people) formerly known as A-Plan, I use the Thatcham specialist vehicle branch.

Last year’s annual insurance price was £333, but the AA are quoting me £889 for 2024. That’s an increase of £556! “Great renewal price” 🤣

I reckon I’ll have to give them a phone and see if I can get that down a fair bit.

Anyone else being offered an exorbitant insurance renewal price?

IME "renewal" prices are ALWAYS over inflated. I'm always straight onto the comparison sites for a reasonable quote. Usually end up switching but occasionally a little haggling with the existing provider can yield a good result.
