It could be due the the number of updates and the servers can't cope. Why does it take 45mins to an hour to do a software update?
I'm sitting in a garage twiddling my thumbs while they're doing an upgrade from R21 to R38 plus the SC077.
Have you asked the dealer? Why does it take 45mins to an hour to do a software update?

8.15 to 12.10.Bored waiting for service or updates? Relax read the manual and drink their coffee. Chill out man![]()
So no hope of improving things for the current cars... This will be resolved when ethernet is used in newer car generations, which already was stated for new generation MGs.
Have you never installed software on a computer or phone? How many times does Windows reboot during an update. Why does it take 45mins to an hour to do a software update?

How many times does your car get a software upgrade? Once a year, maybe twice? So what if it takes a few hours? Go have coffee or a nice long lunch, make a trip out of the event. It took over two hours for our updates in February at the first service.
That wouldn't have been a problem except we were trying to coordinate a problem on my daughter's car at the same time and it made things a little difficult... especially when they had no record of my booking when I arrived. How many times does your car get a software upgrade? I left my motorcycle with my dealer for 3 days for my annual service (included software updates and alot more), 100 miles away from home, booked a nice apartment and made a nice trip out of it, had a fantastic time, great food, great culture. The service ended up being a non-event as it happened while I was having a great experience.
tough old life! That wouldn't have been a problem except we were trying to coordinate a problem on my daughter's car at the same time and it made things a little difficult... especially when they had no record of my booking when I arrived.
Isn't it amazing that you can be as sarcastic as you like constantly on here and get away with it but if you call someones repetitive crap behaviour out you can get told off!tough old life!
I though the update was by USB stick, so they should have the file already downloaded ?The server / files are not the issue for updating, it is the slow connection between PC and Car over OBD Interface when updating all the modules. Don't know the transfer rate, but it is way slower than basic ethernet or USB.
Indeed the SIPS Software is in addition really slow and reminds me of software in the beginning of this century.
Camera and Small Driver Display Module take the longest time, as these files are bigger than other modules.
