Waterproof plug socket cover

My new MG4 SE LR does not have a waterproof plug cover. In the users manual this is repeatedly referred to as a safety feature. My MG dealer sales person states it is not standard and not provided on an MG4 which (as a safety feature) feels counter intuitive. Can anyone give me definitive answer whether this was a manufacturing oversight or, if not, why? Many thanks, Craig

My SE SR came with a rubber cover over the lower ports, not the upper section. I believe this is pretty standard.

The norm seems to be that if the charge port is on the side of the car then the Type 2 section doesn't need a cover, but if it's on the front of the car then it does.

It's not needed - the outer flap has a gasket for waterproofing and should only be open while the upper part of the socket has a plug in it.
The lower 2 pins have a cover because they're not used when AC charging.

As long as you have the rubber bung cover on the bottom 2 DC pins that's all that should be there
