Anyone had the rear disks and pads replaced? Who did you use and how much was it?

Cars been for its two year service and the dealer reckons the rear disks and pads are shot and want ~£500 to replace them!

They're not bad enough to stop me driving so I'll find a local place but kwik fit won't touch electric cars!

Try a Bosch garage. They are normally local garages. Mine is great. I wouldn't trust Halfords on brake, nor do I think you need them replaced. Just remember you must use mg parts

Same here . Had my 3rd service yesterday and was told my rear discs and pads would need replacing soon for £487. They also said the windscreen wipers would require replacement soon for £89 🙀.
I'll be looking elsewhere.
Any recommendations please post 👍

That's basically exactly what I was quoted. They charged me £50 to put the rear washer jet tube back on properly, it had apparently come off slightly!

Another reason I avoid main dealers where ever I can. Lady was adamant it would be chargeable!
I suppose it depends on who you speak to . I had a warranty issue when one of my TPMs disintegrated on my Hyundai Ioniq . The front desk said I had to pay because I must have broken it .When I took it in to be fitted , the technician said it was a fault with the TPM stem and they refunded.
It may be best to query it with the dealer . After all how could you have damaged it?🤔

The rear discs and pads are nothing special for the ZS EV and can now be bought third party, for considerably less than what the dealer is asking.
However when the replacing them, the method used for disengaging the handbrake prior to replacing the old parts, has caught a few people out.
Including a few of the dealers in the early days.
The problem arises when after the discs and pads have been replaced, the electric handbrake fails to engage correctly.
Maybe a good idea to have a read through this thread.

I literally posted this on the MG HS Hybrid sub-forum....

"I have two MG's, a 2020 ZSEV and a 2024 HS Hybrid.

In June of this year, my 5 year old ZSEV was getting it's annual service and I was informed that the rear discs were badly corroded and they and the pads needed replaced. A quotation for around £440 was offered.

Yesterday, my 1 year old HS Hybrid with 8000 miles was in for it's very first service. I was informed that the rear discs are badly corroded and need replaced.
I haven't had the quotation yet but I have had emails and texts saying that they have identified "Urgent work required" and to book an appointment with them!

Is this just a Vertu revenue generation thing or are other dealers doing it?
Is it that the cars are very reliable and there's very little for the service staff to do, so they make things up?
Or.... are the rear brake discs and pads really so bad they need replaced every 8000 miles?"

After reading the replies it's now obvious to me that there has been orders from MG high command to encourage this scam. And scam it is.... There is surface rust on my discs and the pads have 8mm left on them. There is no way they need replaced urgently. It's 2 years till it's first MOT and as I will not be getting this done at an MG garage, I'm confident they will still pass.

Join the club. See this thread, and the saga starts from post #9. Macklin were of course Vertu by the time this happened.

A number of centres will do a free brake check. It would be interesting to get one of their reports and asking the MG dealership for a comment.

Just had mine serviced and had its first MOT add me to the list of "requires rear disks and pads" £485 please it still passed the MOT and I shall replace the disks myself in the summer. To buy the disks from MG £121.95 (cant find any from anywhere else) but the pads are expensive from MG £147!! wont be paying that that's for sure.
