MG4 Windows dropping?

How can you tell the build date please?

My passenger window still dropping after locked it.

This is actually very serious from a security point of view.

Insurance won’t pay up if items are stolen from your car, you are not covered if the window is open.
All l the more reason to report the problem on here and to report in writing to your dealer /MG so you have evidence to back up any future insurance claim

When I picked up the car in the glove box was a document called the Certificate of Conformity. CoC. On this is the build date.
the dealer may have given you this document with the rest of the car docs.
edit. Sorry. Already answered. 🤓

I’m still getting the issue, sometimes the back windows sometimes the front

This is crazy
There was a theory by members that it was an inadvertent touch of a button as the got out the driver's seat, was looking like the same window each time, the fact you are getting different windows certainly looks like you have a fault.

What timescales are you talking about? Have you found it like that overnight? Pretty dodgy of lying down all night.i
You should try and recreate it and try and film it, then get it into the dealer.

With my SE SR all windows will fully lower with a single press down (of the respective button). Raising requires the buttons to be held up. (Driver's window might only need a single pull - I can't remember). Hence why an inadvertent press can fully lower a window.

On my Trophy it has one touch down and one touch up, in fact it is fiddly to get the window just to open a little bit.

Take it to the dealer, there may be a BCM update that fixes this.

What to do when twice they have had it in to repair and tell me it’s repaired but the windows still keep dropping?

They may have done nothing and are just fobbing you off. On the other hand if they say they have repaired it, it means they have actually found a fault (but not fixed it successfully). I’d be asking for an explanation as to what they repaired.

Mine goes in on Thursday for the oil leak fix and another look at drooping window syndrome. Last time they could not find any problem.

Intermittent faults can be a nightmare to resolve if there isn't a detailed datalog of the event; it's a bit like noticing the cookies have all gone (as usual) but the kids deny all knowledge: unless you catch the little ******s in the act, there's only surmisation and maybe a bit of circumstantial. The window-drop happened in our car a few times not long after we took delivery - but hasn't occurred for the last three months: I have a sneaky suspicion it was related to water ingress to the switches, following a car-wash dim moment on the owner/operator's part... So this might seem stupid, but perhaps the tights full of cat litter/rice might sort it (if placed in close proximity to the door switch cluster, rather than being worn, obs).

The windows on mine haven't yet gone down unexpectedly and the switches seem to need a little bit of pressure to operate them. I wonder if they have changed the switches they use during production?

The way I understood it there is no fix for the oil leak problem

That is what has been said on here

It just keeps leaking until it’s about a third left then it’s below the level it leaks

That is incorrect:
  • For some people having the level adjusted fixed the problem.
  • For some people the breather fix (first or second version with revised clip) fixed the problem.
  • For some people none of the fixes have fixed the problem, we are not sure why, possibly installation errors with the fix but some still leak despite lots of visits.
  • Newer cars seem not to suffer from it.
  • It has never been clear why some cars don't suffer from it at all.

We should keep the comments here on the window and there's a healthy thread (understatement!) on the oil leak already.

Yes this thread purely about the windows, but there seems to be similarities in that some cars just keep having the problem no matter what.

The dealer twice said that’s it, all fixed and then the passenger window was down next morning after parking up straight back from the dealer.

This is the sort of thing that would be ideal for a camera setup in the car to record it. Might be a pain to keep the camera charged, but at least it would prove what’s happening

It's on the Certificate of Conformity that was in the glove-box. The date is in the American format month/day/year.
I just found out my car is a year old it seems to have been made 11 April 2022. Then something was granted on the 15th of the 8th 2022.

No wonder I’m having so many problems
