MG4 Windows dropping?

I just found out my car is a year old it seems to have been made 11 April 2022. Then something was granted on the 15th of the 8th 2022.

No wonder I’m having so many problems

That's the 4th November. Not April.

The 08/15 /2022 (15th August 2022) date is the type approval date. If you look all of them will have that date.

Yes it's the continental way of writing the date . Month comes first .

I noticed a window dropping when I accidentally touched the switch a few days ago. Then, yesterday, I parked in front of a spa hotel where I am having a couple of days break. This afternoon reception called me to say the porter hadn't been able to wash my car because a window was open.

When I checked it was the front passenger window and it was open all the way. I suppose the probability still is that I touched the switch, but wow I am going to have to watch this.

My only window to drop was rear passenger. And last week I did catch the switch but I heard the window motor this time. I am now convinced that my window dropped because I caught the switch. It is so easy to catch as they sit quite high.

It is easy to hit the buttons on the way out. When this happens with my Trophy then the window affected goes all the way down. I never seem to get a partial opening.

When I caught the switch last week in my Trophy ,it was literally a split second and the window just dropped slightly. The only time before then it did open completely.

If it is user error it is because of a poor design (switch positioning, over-sensitive switch etc)

It may be a software fault

Having a window drop fully or partially is not a trivial issue. It could lead to theft of belongings and has definitely led to some members having wet seats

In all cases please report to your dealer so they can investigators a software fix or modify the design for the next generation of MG4s.

I think it's a combination of oversensitive switch and poor switch positioning. I don't see MG caring though.

When I caught the switch last week in my Trophy ,it was literally a split second and the window just dropped slightly. The only time before then it did open completely.

I tested it this morning. It is possible to give the switch a slight touch and the window open slightly. It requires a press to go down completely. Either way I am convinced this is how it happens, unless someone can prove otherwise?

We've seen the same issue on several occations - mostly one or more windows slightly ajar, but once one of the back windows was fully down when we returned to the car (parked at home, thankfully). Again, we'd put this down to accidental button-presses, but given the large number of folks seeing the same issue, we'll monitor this very carefully in case there's a software issue here.

To be fair, if you don't touch the buttons they don't go down so they aren't going to care.

So far I'm convinced it's from accidentally pressing the switch. Why? Because I've put about 95% of the miles on the car and never had the issue, yet it's happened twice after my partner has driven it the other 5%.

You'll have watch closely how your partner's exiting of the car differs from yours.
