Newbie here - considering buying MG5 sub £10k

Should be quite a few around at that price now - also Cat-S MG4's or a high-mileage VW ID.4's. Re warranty, you'll need to find one that has a full service history with no services missed, either on mileage or within 28 days of due date. Finding one at that price with complete history may be...

    New EV - advice please

Looks good - presumably not an e-motorbike though? As for the consumer unit... Yes, that is a good solution if you have a modern one with individual RCBO's or a dual pole type A RCD. I would not recommend wiring an EV charger downstream of your main RCD, if it is an older Type-AC RCD. The...

    New EV - advice please

Agree. For continual use, you should have a BS1363-2 type EV socket installed off a dedicated radial final and then running a maximum of 10A for charging. Even then, there have been issues, especially with poorly connected 13A fuses in the granny chargers plug... e.g. like in this thread...

    MG4 solar charging

Well, it certainly can and it does, for us. All depends on your usage patterns and having enough PV and battery. I'll assume you mean kWh, not kW. If so, then yes, I agree that is looks do-able. I must say 6kWh is a very atypical low consumption and I wasn't factoring that in with earlier...

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

Ours (gas boiler for CH and HW) uses about 100W when it is running. The actual boilers themselves don't use much power, it is the water circulation pump that will typically be in the 60W to 90W range for an average sized house. As above, when it is running and pumping it is consuming power...

SE SR charging issues leaving me in a pickle

Personally I doubt an "update" will fix an AC charging issue. Something is broken. And it might not be a quick fix. @Ian Key's took 4.5 months and he had to DC charge meanwhile :( from a month before this post...

Pay per mile. Another blow for EV drivers

For 9 months of the year, mine is charged from our solar panels 🤷‍♀️ It is all generated from the sun, ultimately. Just some of it was generated a long time ago. All my daytime charging is from direct solar, so 3p per mile is an even more eye-watering infinity % :)
