Thanks for all the info. Definitely good to show that quote around to negotiate the price!
I'm still waiting to receive the prices but they did tell me that the £270 for 3y included MOT and MG Assistance, so it's not too bad. My car is due to a service in a couple of weeks due to some issues, hopefully they'll give me a proper quote by then.
However, they also told me that the 4th year service is like £400, which seems crazy! If true, I guess they want you to buy a new car after 3y (or service it somewhere else) :)

Just had an email reply from my dealer (Arnold Clark East Kilbride)
I have been informed by our service manager (Danny) that the Arnold Clark service plan does activate the extended breakdown cover
So that settles it for me - I'll keep the AC service plan that I ordered, and I have it in writing that MG Assist will be extended.

In other news ... my car has arrived at one of their other sites (which I expected) so they'll arrange transfer to the EK branch. This means my collection will be early next week. :)

PS - I've reminded them about the checklist, for when they do the PDI. ;)

Another dealer whose staff need training instead of using BS.
Fingers crossed for you that you get a good one.

I presume you're referring to the AC Salford branch - whilst not being the quickest, my dealer has been fine as regards info provided. :)

I had a reply from my dealer's sales guy, but it's only a holding response ... "I am trying to get this clarified". 🙄

mind sharing the cost for servicing?

I mentioned it earlier in the thread ... £399 for 3 years plus first MOT. As the MG Assist extension is confirmed then the services effectively pay for themselves. :)

Ah, should start ringing AC then, not going to get ripped off by Stoneacre.

Just got quoted £602 from my dealer for first three annual services + MOT and brake fluid change would you believe!
Why does it need a brake fluid change in first 3 years? Brakes are hardly going to work hard with regen and brake fluid only needs changing if contaminated, not as a matter of course!

As you still use the brakes and it'll get contaminated over time. 3 years sounds fair enough. It;s not like they're asking for it done every year.

I think this is nonsense. We never used to change brake fluid every 3 years. I think this has been invented as another way for garages to charge people through the nose - just like unnecessary aircon recharging and now everyone is changing cambelts every 4 years too!

I have always said to the garage: if it isn’t required in the manufacturer’s service, I don’t want it.

People have argued with me in prior posts about the 'great' saving of EV servicing over petrol cars. The three in my family cost about £150 more than that over 3 years. Hardly something which pulls someone undecided. And as I commented before, over time, as PCPers 'hand back' their petrol car, they'll find it'll become an EV dystopia out there, so their next, next car will probably be a electric. Hence over time cars coming in for servicing at a dealership will be primarily electric. Are dealerships really going to lose servicing money, given it's a good form of dealership revenue? Hope, don't be surprised that EV servicing will be all but normalized with petrol cars over the next few years.

Fair enough. It's lost on me a bit as servicing costs are generally not something which winds me up. Thing is though, brake fluid changes are usually required in the manufacturer's service schedule soon enough

I think it varies by manufacturer.

With VAG, dealers seems to be push extras every year even though not part of the service. I assume many people get pressured into taking them “just in case”.

Every year it is the same conversation:

Garage: “We recommend you also do X, it is important or Y might happen.”
Me: “Then it is part of the service schedule, if so important?”
Garage: “No”.
Me: “It can’t be essential if it isn’t in the schedule, right?”
Garage: “But think about Y, you wouldn’t want that happening”.
Me: “Thanks but no thanks”.

so much for 6 quid a month 🤡

I had a cambelt go at 70mph on a 3-year old Vectra, 2000 miles before it was due for replacement (miles, not date). Luckily, the car was under warranty, so I got a mostly* new engine for free.

* - Refurb block with new giblets.

The official brake fluid change interval on my Zoe's schedule is "year 4".
Instead, I say that's when to start testing for water absorption.

I got a quote from a Holdcroft dealer for 3 years of servicing and MOT for £273 (12k miles). Amazed at the variability between dealers.
That is my point, the range of pricing by dealers is unjustifiable, and considering it is required to qualify for the MG Assist package there should be standard pricing across dealerships imposed by MG.
Interesting that the £603 I was quoted this week was only £500 on the day I visited the dealership for my test drive a few weeks ago. Needless to say I shall be phoning around other dealers for quotes.
