Thanks, Rolfe, we just came to the same conclusion ourselves. Found the MG service plan website, and even the same dealership doesn’t quote that much! I think we’ll take it elsewhere for service.

We got our service plan through our dealer when we purchased the car (July 23)

5 years service (yr 5 being a major major service) and 3 mot.
Automatic extension of AA cover for 12 months at each service

£1063

Broken down into
Yr 1 - 97.93
Yr 2 - 179.08
Yr 3 - 97.73 + 54.85
Yr 4 - 203.72 + 54.85
Yr 5 - 250.42 + 54.85

Works out at about 17.50 a month, not going to complain about that at all, and not got the hassle of getting quotes and haggling when the time comes
The AA cover is the best part of £100 if not more.

700+ for 3 years seems extortionate... should be around the 400-450 mark if including 1st MOT

Yeah I saved about £200 on my dealers service plan quote (£600ish originally for 3yr with MOT iirc) by just waiting 2 days and doing it on the MG website instead with the same dealer! Just be sure they use the right reference if you pay it up in one go rather than monthly (they should knock off a bit for this too).

Well It sounds like I'm being ripped off. Taking my car in for its first service this week and have been quoted £256
When I checked in I complained about the charge and was told someone had put extras on there, air con service, brake service etc. Car's only done 5K so just had the normal service, cost £88.

These type of dealers with rip-off pricing should be exposed.

Just booked my first service at my local MG dealership for the end of next month. Although its not the dealer's I bought the car from I took a three year service plan from them and looking at the prices some of you have paid I probably have paid over the odds. (£471 for 3 years including first MOT)

However what was a nice surprise was that they offered a courtesy car without being asked.

The link is quoting me the same price for the 2 MG garages in Belfast. I'm fine with paying this up front. The dealer I bought the car off SERE wouldnt sell me a service plan as they said it wasnt worth it 🤷‍♂️

How much should first service be please?

Also should it be before the first anniversary of picking up the car? Would it matter if it’s just after the one year?

I just got quoted £186 for first service that seems very high.

Any other suggestions for around London for cheaper first service please?
